‘Fūto Tantei’ Manga Going on a Hiatus, Returns in April with New Arc
Image
The Fūto Tantei manga, a sequel to the 2009 Kamen Rider W series, is taking a break. It was announced in the 11th issue of Weekly Big Comic Spirits that the manga will return with a new story arc in April. The series, which began in 2017, entered its ‘last stage’ earlier in 2024. The manga’s 17th volume hinted that it was nearing its end.

This manga continues the story set in Fūto city, where Shotaro Hidari and Philip are back to protect the city. It’s written by Riku Sanjō, one of the key writers behind the original Kamen Rider W series, with Masaki Satou illustrating the manga.

Hideaki Tsukada, a producer from Toei, is supervising the project, while Katsuya Terada handles creature designs. The story also introduces a mysterious woman named Tokime, and a new villain emerges, setting the stage for more battles in the windy city.

In addition to the manga,...

Fantasia 2019: ‘Sadako’ Review
Stars: Elaiza Ikeda, Himeka Himejima, Ren Kiriyama, Hiroya Shimizu, Rie Tomosaka, Takashi Tsukamoto | Written by Noriyuki Sugihara | Directed by Hideo Nakata

I am a huge fan of the original Ring(u) movie. I was 17/18 when I first saw it and before I saw it I had heard rumours about how creepy it was. Watching it on VHS only added to the occasion. It was similar to The Blair Witch Project with the hype that had surrounded it at the time, and like that found footage movie, Ring lived up to all of the hype.

It then of course got an American remake (and subsequent sequels), while also getting its own sequels, a prequel and spin-offs. It is now quite the franchise. But like 95% of horror franchises, the quality of the movies is a mixed bag, with the original still standing head and shoulders above the rest. Sadako sees the return...

First Trailer for New The Ring Japanese Horror Film, Sadako
"The curse exists! I've seen it!"

We are getting another new film The Ring horror franchise. This one is called Sadako, and it hails from Japan. Not even Japan wants to give up on The Ring franchise!

This latest film come from director Hideo Nakata, who also made the original two Japanese films – Ringu and Ringu 2. He also directed The Ring Two for Hollywood in 2005. I guess he felt it was time to revisit the the story of this creepy, vengeful ghost. I’ll watch it!

This new story centers on a group of people who embark on a journey to find out how to stop the "newborn" deadly curse, which goes viral after a YouTuber accidentally captured a vengeful ghost on camera. Here’s the synopsis with a few additional details:

A young girl with amnesia is admitted to a Tokyo hospital’s psychiatric wing. Raised in secrecy,...

“Ju-on: The Final” Is Coming: Prepare for the Curse’s End
The grudge has been held for far too long. This year, we will finally see the end to this terrible grudge curse as “Ju-on: The Final” hits the theaters.

The Beginning Sees Its End in “Ju-on: The Final”

The previous installment, “Ju-on: The Beginning of the End,” has spun a new story for the horror franchise. Whereas the preceding films painted the husband, Takeo Saeki (Yasuhito Hida), as the villain who mercilessly killed his wife and son purely out of jealousy, “The Beginning of the End” reveals that there was more to the story than a simple massacre.

As it turned out, Takeo was possessed by the ghost of a certain Toshio Yamaga.

Ghost to Human to Ghost. Who Will Not Be Furious?

Yamaga was a victim of child abuse. After suffering from the hands of his own family, he was found dead in a bedroom closet, his hands and feet bound.
