BritBox has revealed the official trailer and key art for the crime thriller Code of Silence, which is set to premiere with two episodes on July 24, 2025.

Consisting of six episodes, the series will air weekly, culminating in a finale on August 21.

Code of Silence is told through the point of view of Alison Brooks (Rose Ayling-Ellis), a Deaf canteen worker. Alison is struggling to make ends meet, juggling two jobs, one in a police canteen and another in a local bar, while also doing her best to support her Deaf mum, Julie (Fifi Garfield).

It’s not long before Alison is pulled into a high-stakes police investigation when DS Ashleigh Francis (Charlotte Ritchie) asks that she use her lip-reading skills to monitor a dangerous criminal gang. After Martin Clunes played the original Dr. Martin Ellingham in Doc Martin for nearly 20 years, another star is set to step into the role. Deadline reports that Josh Charles, best known for his role in Dead Poets Society and for recently starring as Commander Gabriel Wharton in The Handmaid’s Tale, will lead a new American remake of Doc Martin for Fox. Sex and the City scribe Liz Tuccillo has been tapped to write the new series, and she will also executive produce. While there is no word on when it will begin production, Deadline reports that the series is being eyed for release sometime during the 2025-2026 season, meaning it could come as early as the end of this year.

It’s the most wonderful tiiiiime of the yeeeeear! Wherever you fall on a festive scale of Scrooge to Elf, it’s certainly the best time of year for good telly: Christmas TV is every channel and streaming service’s time to shine, as they adorn their listings with sparkly specials and festive films. 2022 is no different, with everything from Christmas comedy offerings from Inside No. 9, to Ghosts and Detectorists, a new animated family film from the team behind The Gruffalo, and brand-new soppy festive rom-coms.

There’s also a growing selection box of Christmas dramas – including the last ever episode of Doc Martin – which is just as well considering this will be the first holiday season without a special Doctor Who episode since the show relaunched back in 2005.

Doc Martin, starring Martin Clunes as the grumpy British doctor, is to hang up his stethoscope next year with the tenth and final season of the UK drama.

ITV has renewed the series, which airs on Acorn TV in the U.S., for a final run with production set to start in 2021.

The show follows Clunes’ Dr. Martin Ellingham, a Gp with a brusque bedside manner and a phobia of blood who lives in the idyllic hamlet of Portwenn in Cornwall.

The cast also features Caroline Catz playing Doc Martin’s wife, Louisa Ellingham; Dame Eileen Atkins, who plays Doc Martin’s formidable Aunt Ruth; Ian McNeice’s local businessman Bert Large, with Joe Absolom as his son, Al; John Marquez is PC Joe Penhale; Jessica Ransom is the doctor’s receptionist Morwenna Newcross; and Selina Cadell is pharmacist Mrs Tishell.

That's a wrap on the Virgin Media 2020 British Academy Television Awards! For the occasion, actors gathered around their computers for a virtual award ceremony, hosted by the brilliant Richard Ayoade. Chernobyl bagged three awards: best actor for Jared Harris, best miniseries, and best costume design thanks to Odile Dicks-Mireaux. Stath Lets Flats also took home three awards: Jamie Demetriou for male performance in comedy program, scripted comedy, and comedy writer. The smash hit Gavin and Stacey Nessa Proposes to Smithy special won Virgin Media's must-see moment (voted for by the public) - here's hoping they don't leave us on that cliffhanger for too much longer.

Forever underlining the strangeness of the Primetime Emmy Awards calendar, the BAFTA TV Awards were held Friday, celebrating several previous Emmy winners and nominees, including HBO’s “Chernobyl,” Netflix’s “When They See Us,” in addition to Sian Clifford of Amazon Prime Video’s “Fleabag.”

Speaking of “Fleabag,” the BAFTA awards body appeared to officially end its lukewarm love affair with Phoebe Waller-Bridge before it truly began. The “Fleabag” creator and star was nominated for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme as well as Scripted Comedy and lost in both categories, in addition to losing out in the Best Writer — Comedy category at the BAFTA TV Craft awards announced earlier this month. The losses bring Waller-Bridge’s overall BAFTA TV record to 1-8, with her only win coming in Best Female Performance in a Comedy for the first season of “Fleabag.”

Richard Ayoade will host the Bafta TV Awards for the first time on July 31.

Chernobyl leads the nominations for this year’s Bafta Television and Bafta Craft awards, which were postponed from May to July due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Sky/HBO mini-series is up for 14 awards (11 craft and three television), including Jarred Harris for leading actor, Stellan Skarsgard for supporting actor and best mini-series.

The Crown has the next highest number of nominations with seven, including drama series, Josh O’Connor for supporting actor and Helena Bonham Carter for supporting actress.

Fleabag and Giri/Haji both have six nominations.

Martin Freeman is no stranger to playing a detective: One of his best-known TV roles, after all, is as Watson in “Sherlock.” Now, Freeman stars in the true crime series “A Confession,” premiering May 12 on Britbox.

However, “A Confession” diverges from Freeman’s norm as it portrays a real-life story; specifically that of Steve Fulcher, a detective who in trying to catch a woman’s killer, triggered the downfall of his own career. Freeman and director Paul Andrew Williams joined Variety senior editor Michael Schneider in the Variety Streaming Room presented by Britbox to discuss the real Fulcher’s visit to set, handling tough scenes and what makes “A Confession” different from other British crime dramas.

Freeman was initially attracted to the project because of Williams – the two worked together previously on 2015 film “The Eichmann Show” – as well as the heartbreaking good intentions behind Fulcher’s motivation to solve the case.

Martin Freeman is set to take on a new detective role, starring in true-story drama “A Confession” for ITV Studios. The Emmy- and BAFTA-winning “Sherlock” star will be joined by Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning actress Imelda Staunton in the six-part drama, it was announced Monday by ITV’s head of drama, Polly Hill.

Freeman will star as real-life Det. Supt. Steve Fulcher, whose decision to deliberately breach police protocol in order to catch a killer cost him his career and reputation. “A Confession” is expected to air on ITV in 2019. The news comes hot on the heels of the actor’s casting in parental comedy “Breeders” for FX, which will debut in 2020.

Created by BAFTA-winner Jeff Pope, “A Confession” follows the real-life investigation into the disappearance of a 22-year-old woman who failed to return home after a night out with girlfriends at a local nightclub in Swindon, in England, in March 2011.

Doc Martin has been recommissioned for a seventh series by ITV.

Martin Clunes will return as the grumpy Dr Martin Ellingham in eight more episodes of the comedy drama set in Cornwall.

Filming has begun in Port Isaac, with Caroline Catz, Dame Eileen Atkins, Ian McNeice, Joe Absolom, Jessica Ransom and John Marquez all making a return.

The series is expected to debut in the autumn on ITV.

Series six saw Martin and Louisa (Catz) finally get married, but a life-threatening incident saw Louisa taking their son James Henry to live with her mother in Spain while they worked out their issues.

Martin Clunes said: "I'm thrilled to be back on the beautiful North Cornish coast to shoot series seven of Doc Martin. The Doc has some serious work to do if he is going to persuade Louisa to come back."

"We're delighted Doc Martin is returning to ITV," said ITV's Steve November.

For fans of British TV, Ian McNeice and Joe Absolom are instantly recognizable as the father and son duo Bert and Al Large in the hit dramedy Doc Martin. The duo were recently in Boston for an event organized by American Public Television to publicize the show which is currently airing on Acorn TV. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to speak with Joe and Al about the Doc Martin.

Doc Martin is built around the idea that, Dr Ellingham is a fish out of water as a city slicker trying to adapt to life in the South-West. As actors, can you guys relate to his predicament when you leave London behind and head down to Port Isaac to start production?

So it’s that time of year again. October. The trees are changing, the sky is darkening and Halloween is just around the corner. It seems only fitting then, that horror movies are released in large volume and horror fans around the world are wetting their gills with what is on offer.

A few years back we were treated to a remake of Day of the Woman or I Spit on Your Grave and it was a very good remake that while it wasn’t for everyone did a good job at updating the premise and adding some much needed gore to the mix. Monroe returns with the sequel I Spit on Your Grave 2, opening in an exclusive Los Angeles theatrical engagement September 20 before arriving on Blu-ray and DVD September 24. A "very special festival cut" overseen by producers will feature at the Empire in Leicester Square on Sunday, August 25.

I Spit On Your Grave 2 features Jemma Dallender, who has appeared in Hollyoaks and Community. The film is a sequel to the 2010 movie starring Sarah Butler, itself a remake of the controversial 1978 original starring Camille Keaton.

Dallender is joined in the cast by Joe Absolom (EastEnders, Long Time Dead) and Mary Stockley.

Steven R Monroe returns as director, and Neil Elman returns as a co-writer, alongside Saw IV's Thomas Fenton.

After its London premiere, the movie will get a cinema release before coming to DVD and Blu-ray on October 7.

A total of 34 directors are confirmed to attend Film4 FrightFest 2013, which runs August 22-26 in London.

The guest list of directors includes Don Mancini (Curse Of Chucky), Suri Krishnamma (Dark Tourist), Bobcat Goldthwait (Willow Creek) and Adam Green (Holliston).

Also attending is Gareth Evans, who recently completed principal photography of The Raid 2 and Jason Eisener, both for V/H/S/2.

The first official trailer for Anchor Bay and CineTel Films' revenge sequel 'I Spit on Your Grave 2' has arrived and in its brief runtime manages to pull no punches as expected. The fun starts, in Lindsay Posner's triumphant production of Mike Leigh's best-known play, before Beverly has even sorted out the nibbles, as we inspect Mike Britton's 70s masterpiece of a set (burnt orange colour-coordination, faux sheepskin carpet, cheeseplant, hideous "fibrelight" – the works). Jill Halfpenny's Beverly is fantastic (to use one of her favourite words) throughout. She is a brilliant dancer and as she gets going in her over-the-top green ballgown to Demis Roussos's "Forever and Ever", the rest of the cast look ever more passive, woebegone and excruciated. Halfpenny perfectly catches Bev's dark side – her selfishness, sexual frustration and dangerous stupidity. Catatonic "Tone" is excellently played, with aggressive edge, by Joe Absolom, and Andy Nyman is spot-on as Bev's almost sympathetic husband Laurence. Martin Clunes returns to ITV as Dr Martin Ellingham after a two year absence in Doc Martin: Season Five. Caroline Catz reprises her role as Louisa Glasson – the mother of Ellingham’s child, and Ian McNeice, Joe Absolom and John Marquez are among the other returning cast members. Ex-Torchwood actor (and AfterElton.com favorite) Gareth David-Lloyd has a new web series, debuting this week on Fearnet.com, that’s a cross between 24 and Saw (with a little The Silence of the Lambs thrown in).

Police have finally captured the serial killer Vincent Boylan (Joe Absolom from Doc Martin and Personal Affairs), and it’s up to David-Lloyd’s Matheson to interrogate him.

But despite being handcuffed to a chair in a reinforced steel cell, Vincent is far from powerless. It seems he knew he was going to be caught – or maybe he wanted to be caught – and he’s set up in advance a few aces for him to play. Soon Matheson realizes that his capture of the killer isn’t quite done, and this “interrogation” is just another game of cat-and-mouse in their long-running battle of wits.

FEARnet announced today that successful British web series "Girl Number 9" will premiere on FEARnet.com next week on Tuesday, June 14, 2011. The first two episodes will air on the 14th, then we'll see one episode per day on the 15th and 16th, with the two concluding suspense-filled episodes airing Friday, the 17th.

After the initial airing on FEARnet.com, "Girl Number 9" will be available at a later date on the FEARnet On-Demand network and FEARnet’s emerging cable channel. Each episode runs about 5 minutes in length.

ITV has announced that Martin Clunes will begin filming a fifth series of popular drama Doc Martin this week. The broadcaster today confirmed that after a two-year gap, Clunes will reprise his role as Dr Martin Ellingham for the new, eight-episode run. "I have missed our annual visits to Cornwall, and I look forward to spending the next few months in this beautiful part of the country," Clunes said. Joe Absolom was booted off 71 Degrees North last night at the semi-final stage of the reality show. The TV actor was given the chop by his rivals Gavin Henson and Susie Amy, who both voted for him at the final elimination. Amy and Marcus Patrick only picked up one vote each and will join Henson, who won this week's immunity challenge, in the three-way final next week. Absolom was generally regarded as the biggest threat to rugby star Henson and the Welsh sportsman admitted that his vote was tactical rather than based on talent.
