Now she’s back in the same race for Dying for Sex, also on FX, but that doesn’t make campaigning any easier.

“I get so nervous,” Williams, 44, confesses. “It’s a lot of adrenaline and I still have to keep taking my own advice, which is to try and stay in the moment and enjoy it because it’s all over so quickly.”

Williams is nominated for her portrayal of real-life podcaster Molly Kochan, who, upon a terminal cancer diagnosis in 2015, separated from her husband of 15 years and embarked on a journey of sexual exploration that included multiple casual liaisons with a variety of male suitors.

“The Holiday” is getting its own TV adaptation, TheWrap has learned.

A limited series take based on the classic Nancy Meyers movie is in development at Apple TV+, with “Sweetpea” writer Krissie Ducker and “Catastrophe” creator Rob Delaney set to adapt for television. Meyers is reportedly not involved with the new project.

The show would follow the same premise as the film, in which a single American and a single British woman exchange homes for the holidays and find love and shenanigans through the bold experiment. Casting is currently underway for the two lead female roles, with a greenlight from Apple expected upon securing the right well-known stars.

The 2006 film was a commercial success upon its release and is a beloved classic for the holiday season. It starred Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black.

Exclusive: Fair Play helmer Chloe Domont has added five to the cast of her Neon film, A Place in Hell: Danny Huston (Wonder Woman), Arturo Castro (upcoming Tron: Ares), Kyle Mooney (Saturday Night Live), Dani Oliveros (Skillhouse) and Esther McGregor (Babygirl).

Character details are under wraps. Recently wrapping production in New Jersey, the film is a thriller that follows two women at a high-profile criminal law firm.

As we were first to tell you in February, Michelle Williams and Daisy Edgar-Jones lead the ensemble, which also features Andrew Scott. Domont directed from her own script, with Neon co-financing alongside MRC and Republic Pictures, and T-Street producing. Neon will also release the film theatrically in the U.S., with Republic Pictures handling international distribution.

Domont’s last film Fair Play was one of the breakout hits at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, with Netflix ultimately making it one of the major acquisitions of the festival.

As Beyoncé ended her latest tour, she returned to her Destiny’s Child roots for a reunion with two of her ride-or-dies.

During Saturday’s final stop on her Cowboy Carter Tour in Las Vegas, the 35x Grammy winner brought out Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland for a performance of Bey’s 2022 hit ‘Energy’ and the tour’s buzzy mute challenge.

The trio entered to their 2000 single ‘Independent Women’, strutting the stage to 2004’s ‘Lose My Breath’. They also treated the audience to a medley of their songs that concluded with their 2001 pop culture anthem ‘Bootylicious’.

“Give it up for Destiny’s Child!” Beyoncé told the audience as Williams and Rowland exited the stage.

Although Bey and Rowland previously reunited to support Williams during her Broadway run in the Death Becomes Her musical in November, this weekend marked their first time performing together since their surprise reunion at Coachella in 2018.

The HBO drama miniseries, The Penguin, earned 24 nominations, including one for Best Limited or Anthology Series and Best Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Apple TV+’s The Studio and HBO’s The White Lotus were each nominated for 23 Emmys.

The Studio was nominated for Best Comedy Series. The show’s lead actor, Seth Rogen, received a nod for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Kathryn Hahn was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance on the show.

Actor Jason Isaacs received a Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series nomination for his performance in The White Lotus, which also received an award for Best Directing in a Drama Series.

On Emmy nomination morning, Dying for Sex star Jenny Slate was working up a sweat for totally normal reasons. In speaking with Deadline, the actor, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, shared that she had forgotten about the special day once she became immersed in her daily life with her daughter in tow. It wasn’t until after a yoga mat workout that she eventually checked her phone to find “many text messages rolling in.” Slate says, “Because I’m me, my first thought was that somebody in my family had some sort of accident, but in fact it was something really good.”

Based on the successful Wondery podcast of the same name, Dying For Sex follows the story of Molly Kochan (Michelle Williams), a woman diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer who leaves her husband of 15 years to explore her sexuality.

The nominees for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning, and the HBO limited series The Penguin earned a total of 24 Emmy nominations for the 2025 awards. 

While a substantial amount of the 24 come from the technical and craft categories, the major awards the show is up for includes a top-tier nomination for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.

The show's cast received major acclaim as well, with Colin Farrell nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor and Cristin Milioti for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Additionally, Deirdre O'Connell was honored with a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

With a total of nine Emmy nominations announced Tuesday for the FX show Dying for Sex, its star Michelle Williams told Deadline that the cast and crew group chat was blowing up. “There’s lots of fun activity on the thread. So many threads with so many women involved with this show, and so we’re enjoying ourselves over text,” she said.

Dying for Sex is written by Liz Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock, and loosely based on the real-life story of Molly Kochlan (Williams) who leaves her husband in search of sexual pleasure following a terminal cancer diagnosis. Molly and her best friend Nikki had co-hosted a podcast based on Molly’s blog “Everything Leads to This.” The show also stars Emmy nominees Jenny Slate as Nikki and Rob Delaney as ‘Neighbor Guy’, with Jay Duplass as Molly’s husband Steve and Sissy Spacek as Molly’s mother Gail.

As Deadline reported, HBO scored a record haul of 142 nominations, besting Netflix, which still secured 120 nominations, well up from its 107 last year, and Apple added to its pile from last year.

Elsewhere, there are some interesting numbers for the likes of Disney+ and Peacock, while FX was never going to replicate last year’s outsized success, and there’s another fall for the overall numbers for the broadcast networks.

Apple TV’s Severance has received the most nods with a massive 27 total nominations across the Emmys and Creative Arts Emmys. HBO’s The Penguin is next with 24, followed by The White Lotus with 23.
