Terrorized by the spirit of her tyrannical dead husband, Julia (Cristina Galbó) seeks help from a medium and a parapsychologist while her concerned boyfriend Victor (Máximo Valverde) struggles to come to terms with matters of the supernatural.

At the end of Supernatural, I couldn't help but think how much better it might have been had Lucio Fulci been calling the shots: the film is screaming out for some of his otherworldly atmosphere and trademark over-the-top splatter.

Admittedly, director Eugenio Martin does try in a couple of scenes - an attack in a fogbound car is creepy and Julia's housekeeper being slashed by a flying electric carving knife is fun - but, for the majority of the time, Martin adopts an extremely slow-burn approach, his film largely consisting of confusing pseudo-scientific claptrap, Kirlian photography, alternate dimensions, silver energy cords, and astral projection amongst the baffling gobbledegook spouted by the parapsychologist.

The ending of the film makes no sense whatsoever, as Julia's dead hubby materialises and stalks her through her home before being lured into a trap that banishes him to another realm. Very perplexing!

You may wonder what you have let yourself in for when the opening credits roll as the jaunty music and narrator might give you the impression you are about to watch an American game show. The film itself is actually quite a serious and sober ghost story covering nearly every aspect of the paranormal. Ghosts and poltergeists abound to begin with together with mediums and materialisations followed by Kirlian photography, auras,the 'silver cord' and astral projection. Unfortunately the photography is so dark that it's often difficult to see what's going on and often the muffled and muddled dubbing makes it doubly difficult. If you can get through it there are some nice atmospheric visuals toward the end.

Sobrenatural is a movie about a woman who is being stalked by the ghost of her diseased husband. Remember the movie "The Entity" ? Well, this movie has a similar plot, but it is in Spanish.

It will be scary sometimes. And sometimes it will be dull. These days, it is hard to find this film in any video store. Even in Spain--where it came from.

Christina Galbo of "La Residencia","Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" and "What Have You Done to Solange" fame plays Julie who is trying to start a new life after tragic and eerie death of her possessive and domineering husband.After returning home Galbo is plagued by terrifying supernatural occurrences for example a rotted arm grabs her wrist.An old female medium arrives at the house with a message from beyond,but Julie dismisses her warning.Creepy and forgotten supernatural horror made by Eugenio Martin of "Horror Express" fame.The performance of Cristina Galbo is credible and Maximo Valverde is great as her overprotective boyfriend.There are some memorable horror set-pieces in "Sobrenatural" including bloody slicing via flying electric carving knife.The score by Caros Viziello is also pretty atmospheric with spooky hiss of the dead.The lack of gore is quite surprising,but the film manages to provide some chills."Sobrenatural" received a nomination at the International Fantasy Film Awards for best film.8 out of 10.

Sici-fi and fantasy film dealing with a woman : Cristina Galbo , as she's separated her husband when at a car accident he suddenly dies . However , returning from beyond with an obscure supernatural power to haunt his spouse . She is pursued by the scary , vicious entity and being caught up by an ominous , devilish horror. Along the way, being helped by a clairvoyant : Cándida Losada , her boyfriend : Máximo Valverde , and a doctor by executing weird experiments. As they attempt to free her from the aura of the dead husband who's continuously harassing . Things go awry when they carry out the bizarre experiments resulting in fateful consequences .

This is a strange movie with supernatural aspects, containing thrills , chills , suspense, tension, exploitation , shocking scenes and poltergeister phenomena . Eerie and mysterious picture in which some people discover an aura that surrounds a person just happens the death , unleashing a rare entity on the world and bringing an swarm of unforeseen consequences, ominous distresses , irreversible troubles and grisly killings . There are various scientific and paranormal elements , such as : ghostly materialisation from beyond , astral projection , spirits roaming here and there , silver cord , Kirlian photography , auras and other fantastic issues . However , these interesting elements are really wasted , relying heavily on a popurri of fantastic events with no much sense and extremely muddled. This Supernatural 1981 takes ideas of other movies as The Asphyx 1972 Peter Newbrook with Robert Powell and The Entity 1982 by Sidney J Furie with Barbara Hershey.

It displays a bone-chilling but anticlimatic musical score with minimalist and bizarre sounds by composer Carlos Viziello. Lousy and dark cinematography with really shading scenes by Antonio Cuevas , as a perfect remastering being very necessary . The motion picture was middlingly directed by veteran director Eugenio Martin or Gene Martín. He's a good professional , a nice craftsman who has directed several movies in all kinds of genres , such as , Terror : Hypnosis , A candle for the devil, The fourth Mrs Anderson. Spaghetti, Paella Western: Pancho Villa, Bounty Hunter , Bad man's river . Comedy : Esclava te doy, Tengamos la Guerra en paz , Una Señora estupenda . Musical : La vida sigue igual, Las Leandras . Adventures : Corsarios del Caribe , Duelo en el Amazonas . Being the most succesful film , the classic Horor Express 1972. Rating : 4.5/10 , mediocre .
