Last Embrace

After working with her when he directed Citizens Band (1977) (Fighting Mad), Jonathan Demme cast Lynn Lowry to co-star in this. She signed the contract and was then brought in to meet Roy Scheider and get fitted for wardrobe. But the next day, her agent called and said Scheider wanted to use his girlfriend Janet Margolin in the part instead. The producers dropped her against Demme's wishes but she still got paid and continues to earn residuals from it.

In the scene in the synagogue, Harry appears to be going through a register book when he finds his grandfather's name. Actually, he's reading a tractate of the Talmud, which is entirely in Aramaica and Hebrew - and he's holding it upside down.
