फ़ीचर्ड समीक्षाएं
this is a quite good film actually, i don;t really watch old films but this was alright. although there were far too many long songs in the film, it has a good story so i suggest u should watch it. shammi kapoor is cool as well and overall the film has a good story that at first isn't obvious but towards the end it has a twist. I don't want to give the story away but it revolves around a boy who looks for a girl to marry. Of course in every Hindi film there is a bad man which dies i think lol hm at the end the boy realises he isn't who he thought he was, i can't say anymore coz i'll spoil the story but watch it, its kind of funny sometimes.
An interesting movie captured among the scenic beauty of Kashmir - its beautiful people, valleys and mountains adding to the romance of Rajiv (Shammi Kapoor) and Champa (Sharmila Tagore). The melodious songs, Shammi Kapoor's tomfoolery and wooing, Sharmila Tagore's portrayal of a shy and beautiful Kashmiri gal, the blossoming romance leave a pleasant and happy impression. Pran's notoriety is credible in his portrayal of a mean forest contracter. The absence of a strong storyline or rather the simplicity of it is what makes this movie unforgettable...for this allows the discerning audience to focus on the leading couple's love and the beautiful landscapes. I love contemporary cinema but am extremely fond of these gems from the 60s (and 70s)...Teesri Manzil, An Evening in Paris, Rajkumar, Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai, Junglee, Kashmir Ki Kali...all I can say is WOW!!!! (Sanjeev Logani :-)
A great movie classic from the Golden age of Hindi movies. So sweet a story with absolutely wonderful songs that excellent scenery and staging. This the the film debut of Sharmila Tagore (granddaughter of Asia's 1st Nobel prize winner Rabindranath Tagore). Shammi Kapoor is also excellent in this movie - a very natural and versatile actor who did a great job in this movie. This is a classic love story of a pampered city boy getting his comeuppance from the poor, but proud village girl and his chase to capture her heart.
The cinematography is gorgeous and the Kashmir never looked as beautiful as it does in this film
A must have in any Hindi movie collection!!!

Kashmir Ki Kali (1964) :
Brief Review -
One can't believe that Shakti Samanta could make such an exhilarating rom-com, and then he gave it his own thrilling touch. Shammi Kapoor lovers are in for a treat. Kashmir Ki Kali has all the trademarks that can make fangirls go mad over Shammi Kapoor, be it his looks, the way he flirts, romances, or even the action. Written by Ranjan Bose and Ramesh Pant, the film kept me grinning for two hours, and I couldn't really believe that it was a Shakti Samanta movie. Then, it has a couple of twists in the last half hour that make it look like a thrilling Samata flick. Much like other popular romantic comedies from the 1950s, Kashmir Ki Kali has a rich hero falling in love with a poor heroine. He doesn't tell her about his wealth, and he pretends to be a driver. They fall in love, but there is an antagonist who wants to marry the heroine, and of course, our hero will beat him. But wait, we are not through with the story yet. There is a backstory related to the hero and heroine with the swipe formula, but in this movie, it's quite different from others. What I liked the most about this film was the flow of storytelling. I never felt bored. Shammi Kapoor at his charming best, Sharmila Tagore as a beautiful Kashmiri girl, and Pran come with an accent that we have never heard before. The one-liners between Shammi and Sharmila are cute. "Bol dena me tumse mohabbat karta hu," he says. She replies, "Main jhooth nahin bolati." "Main bhi jhooth nahi bolta"-what a way to propose. You'll see many adorable moments like this in the film that keep you hooked and grinning all the time. Nayyar Saab has given us "Isharon Isharon Mein" and "Chand sa Roshan Chehra" to remember forever. What else do you need from the quintessential romantic comedy of Bollywood? Samanta's vision was so clear and healthy that the film never looked like it was going out of line. It's so rooted and so enchanting.
