- Oscar's [Oscar Piastri] 11 [or] 10 years younger than Daniel [Daniel Ricciardo], but he's quiet. I think he's a little bit the opposite of Daniel at the minute. Of course, it's his first year in Formula 1, so there's a lot of pressure.
- I wouldn't say we [himself and current team mate Oscar Piastri] have the same driving style, but our comments and complaints are generally always the same. So, I think that's a good thing. He's a lovely guy, down to earth, normal guy, hard worker, and so on. So, it's good, fun. Different, I guess to Daniel [his former team mate Daniel Ricciardo].
- I don't want it [sushi] near me, please. [Carlos Sainz: Lando, it has no fish, this one - look! No fish!] It's near a fish!
- [What scares you? Anything?] Heights, death, insects and animals and that stuff, being a passenger, driving on the roads... [laughs] Quite a few things scare me.
- [Describe yourself in 3 words.] Determined, relaxed, fun.
- [Who [between himself and Oscar Piastri] is most likely to catch a spider and release it from hospitality?] He grew up with them.
- I'm not a big fan at all of any sort of alcohol or champagne or whatever it is. So I didn't even have a sip of the champagne [after his third place finish in 2020's Austrian Grand Prix]. There was one picture I saw of the three of us on the podium, the other two drivers are drinking away and I'm just pouring it over my head. I've put it to much better use in my eyes. I would say milk in the end of the day still tastes better.
- [on team radio] Gap? [Engineer: 4.1s.] Gap behind, you muppet? [Engineer, stifling laughter: 1.0s.]
