In 1951 she had a job wrapping packages at Saks Fifth Avenue department store in Beverly Hills when she was spotted by a talent scout for Paramount, who signed her to a contract.
[speaking about shooting Sitting Bull (1954) in Mexico] J. Carrol Naish was a hoot! He didn't want to be there, and they wouldn't let him go home. He played Sitting Bull, and one day he was riding his horse and the horse was barely trotting, just walking along, and J. told them he fell off his horse and had to go home, and so they sent him home! He got his way after all.
