Most elvis movies are about the same. This one is really different. It took over a half hour for the first song, which was a gospel quartet. Elvis didn't have all the songs or good lines, and that was another surprise. There was a salt and pepper couple, about six ot seven years old, who had some good lines, too. Then there was the murder case, right out of Perry Mason's or Charlie Chan's casebooks. Getting John Carradine and Vincent Price participate made me think Colonel Sanders was in a coma during the entire production. Sherree North's appearance was a great bonus in this show. All Elvis movies were full of dolls, but Sherree North was a real actress, too. After King Creole and Jailhouse Rock, this was Elvis's top movie, from the script to the screen!

I can't remember where i first saw it, but i never really appreciated ingmar bergman before i saw this. When it started i went to the chambre de pissoir, and as i was returning to my seat, i heard the narrator describe his sister as a schoene maidele, and i knew this was a different bergman movie than i had first comprehended. Cousin sigrid's comment to uncle anders was really inspirational! The game scene is still unmatched for ferocity and violence rarely seen in any movie, especially a swedish import by the great master. I'm disappointed the imdb does not list the filming locations, as i would make a pilgrimage there, in an atrially fibrillated heart beat. Thank you for posting this and making it accessible to the hundreds clamoring for honest imported entertainment.

As you know, desperate killer Burke some hit the bricks after he issued his own parole from some unknown prison near death valley and found the mine where Harry is the mining engineer and his stresses out little woman, evil, has had it up to here and wants a divorce nobody else in the mine crew knows about. The rest of the community heads to green pastures for the summer, which they claim is three months. Those of us who have been there know summer lasts at least double that estimate. Well, truth be told, killer Burke takes the happy couple hostages, but doesn't kill them or the shows over. On DVD, there are no tragic endings. We know that. The fun point is NOT a spoiler. In the final scene, look for a car driving left to right in the far away scenery.
