As an advent fan of the Kenshin animated series, I found this film and other the films a great live action adaptation. Everyone played their role spectacularly. I rarely write reviews but I felt that it was worth mentioning and I hope their sales do extremely well.
One of the best things I enjoyed about the movie(s) was obviously the action sequences costume designs and how the settings mimic'ed Tokyo & Kyoto was portrayed in the series. It felt like I was in that time line. Some hardcore fans would be disappointed that it was not EXACTLY like the series as far as the plot but how much can you condensed from a series into a 3-part movie. I thought it was well done.
The biggest difference between the anime series and the movie is that, in the series they focus on how techniques work and analyze fighters style in great detail & length. There is none of that in the movie which was not a big deal whatsoever.
I would LOVE to see if they could make a movie of the OVA series with Kenshin being the Manslayer (Hitokiri Battousai) and tell the story of the cross scar on his face.

If you enjoy watching martial art films, Tom-yum-goong will blow you away. It is alittle slow in the beginning but once Tony Jaa starts his mission, all hell breaks loose. The story, in short, is about a boy trying to rescue his pets, 2 Elephants, which was kidnapped and transferred to Austrailia at a restaurant called Tom Yum Goong.
Tony Jaa shows you an array of martial art techniques used in Muay (Moo-way) Thai and how his style competes against other fighting styles. He battles styles such as Wushoo (kicking style), Capoeria, Chinese Sword fighting and yes, even Wrestling. This movie will have your jaw dropped when you see how Tony Jaa adjusts and changes his style to defeat his enemies. But, he displays a style never before since on film which is so brutal, words cannot express it.
Some Cons to the movie is that some of the cuts scenes could be edited better and there is a good amount talking. The ending could be done more better but how much can you expect from a foreign film. The stunts are incredible, sound effects awesome, and creative camera angles are superb. This movie will leave you gasping for air and exhausted but only wanting more. TYG has definitely raised the level of martial art films today. Check it out.
