Every one of the survivng members of The Doors trashed this film. They liked the rock concert scenes, aspects of them. But the film is one dimensional about Jim. Misses the mark about his complexity, humor, talent, intellect, occasional positivity, poetry, and you name it. Oliver Stone would rather just show Jim drunk and out of control as if that is all he was, all the time. Stone was going for cheap thrills and big bucks. Any of the books by the surviving Doors, or interviews with them, or the Sugarman book about Jim--any of these are far more accurate portrayals of Jim and of the band as a whole. Their creative process was fascinating as well as the influences they drew from: jazz, classical, blues, rock, flamenco. That is what made them so different, plus Jim of course. What a voice, what a presence, what an aura. Oliver Stone does total injustice to him; don't bother with this film if you have not seen it.
