As a latecomer to this series, I felt great being able to watch this as fast as I can. It is on my Mount Rushmore of anime series (along with Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia and Oshi no Ko) and I suspect it will stay there for a really long time. Unfortunately, I am now one of the many people who whill have to wait for the next episode ( please finish this masterpiece Yoshihiro Togashi)

The best aspects of the series are its characters, the action and story arcs, particularly the Hunter Exam and Phantom Troupe arcs. There are still flaws within them BUT the anime is so good, it made me rewatch it via the English dub as well as contemplate if I should just read the manga. I'm still undecided but I also know that I can't wait 10 years.

The series is about a group of characters wanting to became Hunters, an association of people that search for monsters and treasures while protecting other people. The main character is Gon, whose goal is to become a hunter to look for his dad, Ging, whom he has never met. Among the four main characters of the show - the others being Killua, Kurapika and Leorio - Gon was initially the most boring one. He's the typical anime good guy. He's not boring but among the 4 of them, he's the least interesting for me. That's his only character flaw and he did become more interesting near the end of the chimera ant arc. Unfortunately, that's also near the end of the series and there are no other episodes to make him much more interesting.

I'd say that Killua is the 2nd lead character of the show. He's is simply awesome. His design, action scenes and writing are near-perfect. He elevates the so-so story arcs as well as his scenes with Gon. If he wasn't there, the show would be not as good. My only cristicism with Killua is that he's too awesome. You just don't feel there's any danger when he's around

Then there's Kurapika, MY FAVORITE CHARACTER. His backstory is tragic, his character design is the best and his story arc is gripping and action-packed. I wanna see more of him. I'm looking forward to rewatching his scenes in the dub.

Last among the characters is Leorio, the comic relief of the group. I love this character and his scenes with Kurapika are hilarious. Sadly, there's not enough of him. He doesn't do a lot besides being funny and we don't even have a story arc that focuses on him.

Then there's Colt, a minor character in the Chimera ant arc. He doesn't get a lot of screentime but his story is so good , he became one of my favorite characters. There's also Hisoka, Gon's main antagonist and my favorite villain.

As for the story arcs, most are great while some are just okay. Here's my ranking of them

1. Hunter exam - the first story arc and the best one. The exams were so fun and it truly feels like an adventure with the characters. You're worried that they may be in danger, you will smile when they succeed. It's also one of the only two (so far) story arcs where the 4 main characters are together 2. Phantom Troupe / Yorknew arc - the story that focuses on Kurapika. It's gripping and action-packed. It makes me sad knowing that this hasn't been continued yet in the anime (this is why I might read the manga) 3. Chimera ant arc - the longest arc of the show. It has a great story, great action and possibly the best villains. The only issue I had with it is that its too long and there was too much narration.

4. Greed Island arc - a mostly fun arc that's set in a video game. The only issue is that it feels pointless and can be skipped.

5. Zoldyck family arc and Election arc - two really good story arcs that feels like they're both palate cleansers and set ups for better story arcs 6. Heavens arena arc - a fun story full of battles and too much exposition.

The only major flaw I have throughout the series is that there isn't enough Kurapika and Leorio. The show is at its best when the 4 main characters are together.

This review isn't enough to express how much I love the series. Please watch this and hope that the story is continued.

*I'd like to warn everyone that this show probably has the best opening theme song. Departure got stuck in my head for a few months.

NOTE: I have seen the entire series, including the 2 part special finale episode, multiple times.

Aot: The Last Attack delivers on its promise: being able to rewatch the series finale on the big screen. It's action-packed, well written and acted. As a fan of the entire series, I didn't expect to cry at certain moments of the film because, like I said, I've already seen it multiple times. What would've made the experience better is if they released this movie first instead of airing it on television over a year ago. However, I would like to point out that I did (for the most part) love the finale. If you didn't, then this movie isn't for you. If you haven't seen the finale, you're lucky that you'd get to experience it on the big screen. Also, the post credits scene they added was a fun addition even if its obviously non canon. It felt like Hajime Isayama was addressing the fans.

While I can't relate to most of the adolescent-related problems experienced by Mei Mei, "Turning Red" is still a delightful family film even if it doesn't rank as one of Pixar's best.
