At first I just thought this show was a quirky Scandinavian mystery. The beginning is a little confusing and the viewer is not quite sure what type of show this is. It's definitely nothing like Deadwind or Borderland, which are much more somber in tone. In the first episode or 2, I thought it was meant to be a comedy. But by the end it rose to a level of brilliance not often seen on TV. It really has a lot to say about what it means to be human and to live with pain. The last episode really moved me. I particularly enjoyed how the various characters' stories are interwoven through the series. Highly recommend.
As an action movie, WM is ok. As a faithful adaptation of a fantastic novel, it's basically a zero. The only similarities between the novel and the movie are several character's names and the title. Otherwise the plot is completely different. I recommend reading the novel. It's much better.
This episode was the best of a great series. For me it became modern poetry is the way it explored deep issues of life, loss, and grief. The scene between Tony and the children in the cancer facility was especially powerful. Bravo.
