CA: "Don't be that guy"
Random woman: "What guy"
CA: "The guy who does things the hard way"
Pause and intense stare
"I guess I AM that guy"
This is the sort of Grade A dialogue you can expect from this film.
Now, it's a superhero action film I hear you say, it's not meant to be that deep.
Indeed, I agree. What makes this even worse is it's lack of plot, terrible pacing, predictable 'action scenes by the numbers' flatly directed.
Anthony Mackie as CA just doesn't work for me. A shame because I had high hopes, but he really is best in a supporting character capacity.
Harrison, miscast.
The old guy who was a supporting in that tv show. Genuinely, who cares?
The bad guys, offensively generic and uninspired.
The new falcon is the only one that comes out of this with his head held up high, but the bar was low.
Tragically dull.

I switched this on by chance as I was endlessly scrolling through prime to find something to watch, and oh my days am I glad I did.
Yes, it's taking old tropes we've seen in countless other coming of age/coming out shows BUT, they repurpose them so it's genuinely laugh out loud funny.
And, fairly uniquely, although the main guy is on his coming out journey, it isn't a turgid tale, nor filled with personal tragedy, it's just really good natured, enjoyable, frequently hilarious fun, with a good tale at it's core.
I encourage you all to give it a go.
