If You Like Beavis and Butthead or Duckman, Try This

I only stumbled on Immigrants (L. A. Dolce Vita) after a deep dive on a Rugrats documentary, and I'm glad I did. It's one of those animated films that completely flew under the radar, even with Hank Azaria in the cast and Gábor Csupó (of Rugrats and Duckman fame) behind it.

Is it packed with stereotypes? Sure, but it's nothing out of the ordinary for its era, and honestly, most of the humor lands if you grew up watching shows like Beavis and Butthead or Duckman. The characters are all over the top, but there's a certain affection in how the absurdity plays out.

The animation is solid for what it is, and there's genuine creativity in the way they poke fun at American culture from an outsider's perspective. My main gripe? There's this random, annoying whistle that pops up throughout the show for no clear reason. It's distracting, but not enough to ruin the experience.

Best part: you can actually watch the whole thing free on YouTube by the people behind Rugrats and the Simpsons. Overall, Immigrants is a hidden gem for fans of '90s/2000s adult animation. Not perfect, but definitely worth a watch if you like your comedy a little weird and a little sharp.

This movie was like looking into the future with a sentient mad AI thriller/sci fi twist. Atlas is well-written (props to Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite), and thought-provoking. The director, Brad Peyton made a smooth and watchable film. J-Lo did great as always. I've been her fan since Enough. She also did awesomely in The Mother recently.

I also appreciated the language side characters used, such as Mark Strong. The writer really thought about how people in the future might talk and interact with AI and others. Sterling K. Brown is believable as a foil. Simu Liu was a scary AI villain. Gregory James Cohan contrasted that boldly as a good AI.

Very heartfelt and worthwhile movie with tons of action and no slow parts. Frankly, if an old white man were the main character instead of J-Lo, it would have 10s.

The praise for this movie seemed like mostly overhype from YouTubers and reviewers who get extra perks for promoting movies positively. However, I gave this a chance feeling like I was about to watch some 3D kids movie with Mario characters. Not the case. The writers clearly loved the game and the casting was also wonderful, especially Jack Black as Browser. The song Peaches was written by a few people, but it's obviously that he added a few wild and hilarious lines. Really loved this movie and recommend it for both adults and kids alike. My only gripe is that while the first hour was perfect and nostalgic friendly, the last half hour of the movie wasn't memorable or really anything to worth praise. It went from an awesome epic movie to seeming as if everyone wanted to rush and finish the film. It didn't have to be longer, necessarily, but something about the last half hour was just kind of meh. The end was satisfying. That said, definitely recommend Super Mario Bros!
