Note de TheNamelessCzar
I am sick and tired of all these superhero reboot movies. Let's be honest, nothing will ever top Christopher Reeve and the original Superman movie. This is just a jumbled, comical, horrible rip off that does almost nothing right. There is no origin story, and we are thrown into the middle of a world that we don't understand. Then, Superman barely shows any super skills as he gets beaten up over and over and over. The action scenes are chaotic and difficult to follow because of the way they are shot. The stupid dog is annoying and a distraction. The CGI was completely unrealistic. At times. There were several scenes that I know were meant to be dramatic and serious, but came off as comical and ridiculous and actually made me laugh. Let's try to turn the tragedy that is happening in the world today into a movie message that comes across as belittling and condescending. Finally, let's throw around physics terms that have no meaning whatsoever like pocket universe and anti-proton River so we can sound smart and we have a reason for impossible things to happen in our movie. I am shocked by the good reviews. This was terrible. Maybe superhero movies just aren't my thing.
I thought this was going to be one of those pictures that was pretentious, snobby, and simply out there for Oscar nominations. I have a little if any knowledge of how the Catholic Church works, and how a Pope is selected. Man, was I wrong. The movie is mostly dialogue driven which would put some people to sleep. I, however, I found it enthralling and riveting. It was shot beautifully with excellent dialogue And excellent acting. It was fascinating, and the director a fantastic job of actually building tension and suspense with little to no action throughout the entire movie. The one fatal flaw, if you've seen the movie, you know what I mean, is a bizarre twist that comes at the end that doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the film. Other than that, Very well done and very enjoyable film. One of the best films I've seen this year.
So I knew this movie was going to be bad going into it. Let's face,it the premise is utterly ridiculous. A haunted swimming pool? But, being a fan of the horror genre, I decided to give it a look. The movie lived up to my expectations, and that's not a good thing. Tons of the lines are cringeworthy to say the least. Also, if the pool is haunted, and you know it's haunted, why do you keep going into it? Seems like a simple solution. And how do all of these characters all of a sudden become proficient free divers? They hold their breath on and on and on in a swimming pool without having to come up for air. The film is not scary or suspenseful. It is exactly what it sounds like. A movie about a haunted swimming pool. And that's not a good thing.
