I just watched the new War Of The Worlds movie on Amazon Prime.
The idea (a rip off of Searching/Missing and one of the best Modern Family episodes) of having Ice Cube see the events of an alien invasion unfolding through his laptop screen, could have been interesting. But it's not. It was a real test of endurance to get through it
This has sat on the shelf for 5 YEARS!! It was made in 2020 and it shows (No two people are ever on screen together) They should have just left it there and had a tax write off!!
The CGI is awful, the twists are predictable, the acting is bad and its run time really drags. It is not even so bad, that it is good, fun type thing!! It's just awful, speaking of awful the amount of Amazon references; was ridiculous.
Avoid it!! Worst movie of the year.
I watched it, so you don't have to.

I just got out of The Naked Gun
This was not the laugh riot the reviews, promised. Its humour is very safe and is pretty inoffensive. I did laugh out loud quite a lot, but they were not belly laughs
Liam Neeson does his best and is solid, I loved his voice over. Pamela Anderson is game and the scene with her singing is excellent, she looked great, too. Paul Walter Hauser has a scent role, but isn't really given much to do, whilst Danny Huston hams it up as the villain and it's always nice to see Kevin Durrand, even if he is under used. There is a surprise cameo which made me smile.
I smiled a lot during this movie, it made me think of my Dad, who loved these movies. It is the most I have laughed in the cinema in a long time, but it's not up there with Tropic Thunder, Something About Mary, Four Weddings & A Funeral and The Birdcage, as my favourite comedies I've seen on the big screen!! Those had serious long belly laughs in the cinema, with everyone cracking up. There are not many better things than watching a hilarious movie, with a packed crowd. This wasn't it, for me.
Stay for the song during the end credits!!

I just watched Havoc on Netflix.
The opening was a CGI mess; that I struggled to concentrate on, but once that was out of the way, I enjoyed this.
Tom Hardy always puts in a shift, I have loved Timothy Olyphant for years thanks to Justified, Like Hardy, Forest Whittaker is always reliable. I always enjoy seeing Luis Guzmàn on screen (not the case for years after Carlito's Way lol) I really liked Jessie Mei Li (who was in Last Night in Soho) as Ellie, Hardy's new rookie partner. Quelin Sepulveda and Justin Cornwell did well too, I wanted them to be okay.
One thing I appreciated, was the script does not give the characters plot armour, it's not predictable and some surprising people are killed.
Gareth Evans is a solid action director, I loved The Raid movies (I remember being excited when Sly said he was going to do better than The Raid with Expendables 3.) and I really enjoyed Gangs of London.
Other than the opening, the only things I didn't care for, was some of the action was hard to follow and it also got a bit too much, how all these bullets were being fired, without hitting who they meant to.
