Netflix has done a really good job with this franchise. The writing and animation are both very solid. Specifically the animation. They took it to a new interesting level in this series and the action is , dare I say, a bit better than the original series The voice acting is either stellar or lackluster and the volume of the voices greatly differ. It not the best sound engineering. But it was great to hear Iain Glen (who voices the estranged Grandfather and famous for being Calici's main man) and Zahn McClarnon, he voiced the scary American vampire. I think they both killed it in their roles. I think the way that they are handling this series it could and should probably go on for another series. 8.07/10.

The first two seasons were pretty great then the third season was just a self-indulgent attempt at creative storytelling I guess the writers watched some Bojack Horseman and thought they could do that too (they couldn't). The fourth and fifth seasons got back on track to it being a funny sitcom but by now the characters became very worn and more than a bit infuriating. The writing is solid. Flawed but funny (somewhat) relatable characters sometimes overtly hyperbolized but still good characters. The Edgar character was the only one I really couldn't vibe with but I get why he was added to be somewhat of an anchor to the Jimmy character but the whole veteran thing got old and seemed to be added to try and give the character depth but was too forced. Also the way he talks with his mouth to the side is so annoying.

It was a good show all in all. I would say just watch the first two seasons though 6.69/10.
