I can't imagine going to a showing of LIES and not meeting up with director Saara. She is a most unique and genuine individual. Watching her film gave me a feeling that some scenes were self-indulgent. On meeting Saara there is an understanding as to why you should feel that way. And while it is important that no two people leave the cinema having the same interpretation of LIES; I think the genius of it is the series of scenes depicting Saara in conversation with a version of middle-aged entitlement hoping to gain funding ... yes funding ... why shouldn't she receive money for a silly film???
Awful. Simply awful. Didn't make sense. Tried to be off-beat funny with a clunky script. The soundtrack should be used in film school exemplifying what not to do. I ready don't want to bag a film made in my own country's industry .... but no one else should lose 90 minutes of time you'll never retrieve!!
Coming to Busselton, West Australia for the Cinefest Oz weekend has been exciting except for one 93 minute time heist; The Legend of the Five viewing. Excruciatingly confusing, boring, ill conceived, badly acted, unoriginal ..... a film lacking any redeeming features. The age group this film is aiming to attract, adolescents, were walking out. I leave this review with a couple of questions ....... why is a reputable film festival including such tosh in their program? And finally, how on earth did this tosh get made?
