I enjoyed every moment of this movie. The music is lovely, the acting is great, the script has tender moments, funny moments, even a bit of suspense. I saw it opening night at the Phoenix film festival and the audience absolutely loved it as did I
The characters are distinct and well developed and the actors fit the roles beautifully. The setting is gorgeous and the videography captures the isolation and beauty of the island.
As we were leaving the theater, both of us turn to each other instead that we'd like to see that movie again right now. I it's one of those movies that restores your faith in humanity and makes you feel good, and boy do we need that now.

I caught this by accident, really, but it seems providential. It reminds me of a certain 21st century Presidential candidate. Now I'm wondering if he got his ideas to run for office from this Ironside episode.
So many parallels to you know who---obnoxious personality, mocks the weak, loyal only to himself, name calling. Even has a wife who hates him.
Milton Beryl does a fine job in this dramatic role. The plot may or may not surprise you, but it is entertaining. I've always loved Raymond Burr, although I have to admit I prefer him as Perry Mason. I never much liked the setup of the show with the thee assistants, but to be fair. I didn't watch it very often.

I stayed to the end of this movie, but wished several times to get up and leave. I should have listened to that inner voice. By the end I felt resentful of the 90 minutes I had spent in the film and could have been doing anything else like walking my dog. None of the characters were very well developed in terms of writing or acting. The two romantic leads had very little chemistry between them. And the characters made decisions that were definitely not in their own best interest or in the interest of anyone that they cared about. The whole thing was just a frustrating experience to watch. I gave it two stars only because the sequences on the boat were interesting and well done. I would have liked to have stayed on the ship longer and not venture into the town or any of the other nonsense. It felt unnecessarily violent in many parts and as we left I could hear other people wondering as I was why the main character made the decision he did at the end which seemed to serve no one but the bad guys. I guess I should feel lucky that it was the only one of the many films I saw at the Phoenix film festival this year that was really disappointing. Most were fabulous and I look forward to seeing them get broader releases.
