Its pretty much bi-polar. in one half hour episode i go from like pissing myself laughing to wanting to cry to cringing about 7 times an episode.
I mean seriously Laura Linney is one of the best actresses i've seen in a TV series for a long time. The characters have such complex relationships which would be too much for a 90 minute film but is great for a TV series.
So i guess overall I love this so much. its my new favourite programme. It makes me sad that she's gonna die. I hope they get a few series out of it first.

But this is at least trying. I don't feel i can make a proper judgement as for the first episode i was just watching different people do the same thing i'd seen three years ago. I'd be interested to see whether the characters are going to go in completely different directions than the BBC version because then i might be able to make a judgement based on their individual merits. But at the moment it just seems like a copy with differences which are just a little too small.
I am happy that Toby Whithouse who was the creator of the original is overseeing the US version as at least he can share how he made the BBC version so damn good
One last thing though. Leonora Critchlow who plays the ghost in the BBC version is amazing and i don't think anyone could play it better so thats why i hope they go in a different direction so that it just doesn't become embarrassing for this girl taking over.

I was expecting another Whodunnit drama series which i didn't mind watching as i was bored out of my skull on a Sunday night. But this was amazing right from the word go.
Jaimie Winstone was best by far. But it was very sensitive to the Ipswich families involved and yet maintained A VERY good drama. It dealt with the motives behind prostitution very well.
In some parts i wanted to cry and others Scream at these girls for working on the streets. But it was damn well worth the watch. Its so good I think i might get it on DVD. Which would be the first mini series i ever think is worth the buy.
