I've really enjoyed this film. The whole idea about how a 20 years relationship between two persons ain't the proof you know someone and that the simple fact that a (big) change in their daily routine would jeopardise everything, is amazing. All this because a woman can't understand her age, and down know how to grow up older.

This causes her 'promiscuous' behaviour regarding her male friends, with the distant presence of her husband. Sam Dodsworth's reaction to this isn't the more natural (for me), he lets her wife 'playing' with her temptations, being sure of her dedication to him. In the beginning she show us a control over this dangerous game, but some issues will come from them later.

The appearance of Mrs. Cortright in this story is very interesting. She's the person that show to Sam how different he is from his wife. A natural osmoses between this two souls shows us a deeper perspective of the Dodsworth's couple divergences.

This film is a life lesson. It's really my kind of film, and that's the reason I'm more into old films (30's to 60's) than the nowadays.

The story conclusion in this film is very well done, giving us the idea that the it goes one way, but in the end...

I've just finished reading Wuthering Heights, from Emily Brontë and I (ingeniously) wanted to see this film because I thought I could see the places, the faces and all the 'elements' that compose this amazing novel. Must of all I must say that this book became one of my all time favourites. And this film is really bad, not only because it has not all the complexity of the book, but because it has nothing, period. The more complex character in this history: Heathcliff. In the book he's a really complex character. he is not just good or just bad. He's someone who has good things in him, that makes us hope that everything is going to be all right for him, and in the other hand, he's one of the biggest bastards I knew the existence of :) In this film you just don't get to know this Heathcliff. The character of Catherine is that bad too, and mostly, their relationship isn't the one this film let us know, this film show us just a Hollywood relationship no more deeper that that, but it isn't like that. And what to say about the sequence of happenings in this film? It's really impossible not to laugh about the sequence of all the moments of this history. if you're responsible of this high IMDb rating to this film, please do me a favour, go read the book. ...and you'll come back to ask me why I've rated this film so high.. (well, because 0 is impossible)

I saw this film yesterday with a friend. We both didn't like it. Not only because it's empty in all type of content, but too because it didn't catch our interest on continuing seeing it. The plot line isn't much interesting, but I saw the film anyway... you never know.. things can turn different and amazing sometimes. But it's not the case. All dialogs aren't interesting, the characters are simple and very 'light'. all the film have sexual content, trying to catch our interest or to disgust us, but nothing of that happened to me. there is not good moment in this film, you know? when in the middle of some confusion there's a word spoken, or a moment captured, or a different camera point of view that make us see something different. None of this in this 2 hours length film. My vote is 2. why isn't 1, you ask? wheel, because of two things: first the little girl. isn't a great performance, but I've liked her presence in this none sense. And the second is the city: Porto is a dark city, and this film catches that feeling, the city I use to call our 'Gotham City'.
