I really liked the first couple of Jeepers Creepers, but it's really time to stop I think. This movie has a very different feel that the rest of the movies, and really came off as more of a slasher type of movie than a continuation of Jeepers Creepers. There is a heavy reliance on green screen/CGI, and definitely not in a good way. Part of the first movies was that they sort of kept the look of the creeper hidden, at least for the most part. Now, it's like....let's just show as much of him as we can because it's really kind of over.
If you look at this as just a horror movie and not a continuation of the franchise, it's not quite as bad, but this really just didn't live up to my expectations.

Move along....there's nothing to see here! If you're reading reviews to actually figure out if you want to watch this or not, then don't. This is just a run of the mill slasher movie where the slasher happens to be Popeye. I thought maybe somehow with the character being Popeye, this might be somewhat entertaining, but it wasn't.
The premise is that a bunch of twenty-somethings go to the house where Popeye was drowned as a kid to fix it up. Terror ensues, and Popeye, who stalks the place, kills everyone. While watching this, all I could really think of was Friday the 13th with Popeye instead of Jason. Then at the end they tell you a back story that sounds a lot like the Nightmare on Elm Street story.

I don't know why this movie is getting so much hate in the ratings, it's an excellent movie. Some people are saying it's an Evil Dead ripoff, but it's more just a story with an Evil Dead vibe where demons in a house are possessing people. Sure, that's what happened in Evil Dead, but I just didn't feel like this was a rip off the way some people are saying. It's an indy movie - can they not tell a similar story???
There's some nudity that really didn't need to be there, and there's far too much cussing or I'd have given it a 9. I think fans or horror, possession movies in particular, will find this one well worth the watch!
