First let me address the negative reviews. You have to love when the lowbrow cinema viewers think they know better than 75% of the people that watch the film. Spoiler alert, you negative reviewers don't impress anyone with your callous attack toward an incredible movie.
Now to my review. I bought this film on VOD based only on a single watch of the trailer. How lucky I was to know nothing else about this film. What stands out more than anything are two things. The brilliant acting by the two leads, Willa Fitzgerald and Kyle Gallner. As well as the insanely perfect cinematography by Giovanni Ribisi. Who would have known he had such an eye for crafting the viewing experience of this film.
Applause all around for one of the best movies I have watched in the last couple years. I promise, if you don't think you are too cool for school that you will adore what was crafted in Strange Darling.

Okay, this may be a low budgeted, pretty bad acted film that isn't amazing. But the moment that short haired chick picked up the gun of the you she killed I decided I'd give it at least a 6/10. How many movies have you watched where the character needed a weapon, kills or disarms the bad guy and just leaves the weapon?? Far too many multimillion dollar budgeted films, that's how many! Listen, I am not even really sure how this showed up on my Amazon Prime to begin with but it did and I pressed play for some reason. It really isn't the worst movie but it is far from the best movie. I doubt another review will be posted but she picked up the gun and that was good enough for me.
Absolutely beautifully executed in every aspect of the imagination. The score is dark and brooding with strong sound direction and composed with purpose. The cinematography reminds one more of a film than a typical tv series but this is nothing new with the likes of GoT changing the landscape of what can be accomplished behind the camera of a television series. With near perfection in casting, I am sorry, I do agree with most here, Gomez was a mistake and seems to be driven by the choice in the cartoon films. But this is all forgotten with the mesmerizing role that Jenna Ortega performs. You would be forgiven and understood if you were planning on passing off as the latest Netflix dribble, but Wednesday breaks the mold of the last few years of release (of course we have Squid Games and a few other outliers, but for the most part Netflix has a negative net rating on quality of releases) and really delivers a strong story with enjoyable aspects for all different viewer groups. I am a 35 y/o male who typically watches independent films, thrillers or sports and I found this to so enjoyable we watched it twice over the long Thanksgiving Weekend off of work. I would truly recommend this to any and all. While understanding not everyone will love "Wednesday", I believe we have a new hit on our hand and can only hope future seasons take us on a deep dive into all things that this season created for us to love.
