Well, I figured if the ratings were through the roof, this show had to be good. It's not. James Spader is great. James Spader cannot carry whatever this show is supposed to be all by himself. Is the demographic that this show is catering to all high school dropouts? Am I supposed to suspend disbelief when watching this? How did Megan Boone land this big of a role because she can't act. Also, the wig is horrendous and impossible to ignore.
What killed this show early on for me was the poor acting, the horrible cheesy effects, and most importantly, the fact that it's an American tv show. Yuck. It's quite literally drama for dummies that barely passes for anything remotely dramatic. There's so much cheese going on all the time I feel like I'm at the Wisconsin State Fair, which is probably the demographic this show appeals to. I cannot imagine waiting around every week for the next episode to air and having to wade through braindead tv commercials the entire time. Extra yuck.
James Spader, yes. This show, nope.

6.5 is where I land but that's because of a few episodes that were just pointless and unbelievably dull and were only saved by either an intriguing setup or by dangling the proverbial carrot at the very end. The constant flow of lying and cheating and divorces and lovers is a bit infuriating at times, but then again, that's who these people are.
Apple TV doesn't typically put out garbage so this show is by no means a dud, it just could have refrained from the self-indulgence of needless reflection and reminescing. The episode where the daughter goes to check out a college was one giant snoozefest until the very end. That episode nearly killed the show for me. I'm glad I stuck around and finished it because there are some solid moments and Hamm and Munn deliver good performances and the overall plot is decent enough.
It's well directed and looks great, I just think the writing could have used some work.

This movie is sublty brilliant and was obviously targeted to be review bombed by the real life people it's supposed to be portraying. Truth hurts much? Masculine fragility is all too real.
If you've been connected to the internet for the past couple of decades and aren't already braindead from watching TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, this movie is for you. You'll get it. It's well written and shines a Sirius star level of spotlight on everything that's wrong with the people who have all the money on the planet. They aren't interested nor have they ever been interested in saving humanity or bettering the human race using their hundreds of billions of dollars and are instead grotesque narcissists with self-inflated egos that dwarf galaxies. Cure cancer? Feed the poor? Fight for world peace? Save the planet? They could care less if it's not going to be creating content and getting them "likes" and generating revenue. They're in their own race to save themselves and boast about who has the most money.
Mountainhead is a deep, though-provoking, disturbing, yet subtly hilarious inside look at these super geniuses and what they're really up to. Self-preservation and control.
Ignore the obvious review bombs and give this movie a chance and get enlightened.
