This is 100% Gracie Gillam's movie. Her character may be kinda one dimensional but by all the gods of movieland does she eat. Osric Chau is kinda bland as Teddy, and Sarah Canning is almost decent as Claire, but Gracie Gillam's Rebecca is absolutely unhinged in the best way possible.
It's actually worth slogging through the first hour-ish just to get to the moment when she fully cuts loose, and to then watch her have LOADS of fun with the role.

Unfortunately, I was lead to believe that this was great. It wasn't.
That's not even on the acting (which, aside from Stacy Chbosky, was entirely laughable), or the writing (which was also entirely laughable), or the camera work (which was actually pretty bloody good, pun wholly intended), or really any one thing. It just didn't really gel for me.
It was watchable, and at times really interesting, but it just kinda fell flat in the end.

It's not a great movie, it's not even an especially GOOD movie as far as those things go, but it's an *enjoyable* movie and that matters more to me than if it's 'good' or 'great'. Even beyond Mathilda May spending most of her screentime naked (and she IS pretty damn hot), it's an enjoyable time as long as you're willing to go along for the ride.
The effects are kinda mid by today's standards, and a lot of the acting isn't great, but by all the gods of movie history was it ever a fun ride!
