I just watched this. I was in the mood for a light movie so I could just relax. Boy, was I wrong! IF is a very complex movie. It isn't a kids movie, though kids will like it. It's for those of us who had an IF, Imaginary Friend, but who lost that magic as we grew up.
John Krasinski wrote, directed, and appeared in it, but it is Ryan Reynolds, and Cailey Fleming who shine. Lots of other stars do the voices for the virtual characters, and I have to say the special effects are really wonderful.
Fleming plays a 12 year old girl who has lost her mother to illness and is worried when her father needs a hospital procedure. She keeps insisting she's too old for kids things, but gets wrapped up in strange creatures who "live" in the attic room of her grandmother's apartment building.
The movie is just magical and so touching. You get wrapped up in it before you realize it. There are so many touching moments, smiles, and laughs, and tears. I cried when her grandmother, played by the wonderful Fiona Shaw, raises her hands and dances ballet to Khachaturian's Sparticus, as she did when she was a child. And I cried again at the end. There are many moments of realization in this movie.
I too, had IFs. I've called them to mind a few times in the past, but this movie brought them back again. If this is what John Krasinski can create, he needs to make more movies: many more.

I'm always up for a good Godzilla movie. I've been wanting to see this one as it got so much critical praise. I'm telling you right now it did not disappoint. It is one of the best Godzilla movie I've ever seen, and I've seen a bunch.
The action follows a kamikaze survivor who despises himself for outliving all his comrades. He feels disgraced and it is heighted when he returns home to find his loved ones all dead. He manages to live with his guilt, though he hates himself and can't really move forward even though he helps an orphaned baby, and her young caregiver survive. That is until Godzilla shows up and decimates Tokyo.
The story is great; the action is great; the actors are great; the music is great, and the special effects are beyond great! I had to buy it from Prime, but it was well worth it. I'm not going to give the story away one bit. Watch it. I guarantee you will like it.

I have to say up front that I'm from the small town where this was written and filmed, and I know Benjamin Gross.
I think the writers, director, cast, and crew did a great job with this horror film. The premise is that a creature lives in a local bog and that it isn't safe to go there. When a family inherits a local home adjacent to the bog the stage is set for mayhem, and mayhem is what we get. They don't believe in crestures like bigfoot, but the town makes a tidy living off of the bog creature. I don't want to give anything away. I prefer you give it a try. You will have a roller-coaster ride in the bog!
I love a good horror film and I throughly enjoyed the bloody romp through the bog.
