I'm sure glad I'm just a "movie watcher" and not a "film buff", so I can enjoy watching a decent movie, without picking everything apart. In my humble opinion, the acting was good and the story all held together. I gave it a 7, which is probably high, but just trying to offset all of the unwarranted terrible ratings. Certainly derivative of "The Thing", without all the cool creature effects, but nothing wrong with that. Hey, no one complained about West Side Story being derivative of Romeo and Juliet, did they? Okay, have I typed enough characters yet? I guess not quite yet. How about now? I did it!
How can anyone give this more than the forced minimum of one star? It's just actors reading lines that seem to have no connection to each other, and sometimes the individual pieces of dialogue don't even make any sense. Kind of like trying their best to "emote" while reading a phone book. As if the AI just took random bits of text from other works and scrambled some of the words around. It would have been better to have taken whatever little money was spent on this project, and donated it to a worthy charity, like the Home For Unemployed Screenwriters. Have I typed enough words yet? Okay.. it was really, really, really bad!
OMG! It's like they took a mediocre 30-minute Twilight Zone script, and very painfully stretched it out to almost two hours. Lots of scenes where a person is just staring at something (or nothing) for several minutes, without any dialogue. No, I'm not talking about the zombie alien creatures. They were almost more lifelike than the supposedly living people. And other things that made no sense. Like the counselor calling to harass the lady about missing her court-ordered sessions for a DUI. Uh, she's apparently the only person who can save the human race. Maybe cut her a little slack for the psych sessions?
