I couldn't watch beyond the middle because by then I knew exactly what to expect, and I was not prepared to endure it.

A slow-paced, tedious film that is mostly filler and ultimately has no story to tell. It's nothing but dull, episodic nonsense with few, and terribly bad scares. We are not invested in these characters, and we certainly don't care what happens to them because not even the filmmakers do. There is no creative spark and no desire to tell a story worth watching.

Moreover, nothing makes sense, and why our protagonist remains in her job even after being sexually assaulted and witnessing creepy things is something our lazy screenwriter couldn't care less about.

To top it off, this prequel contravenes basic plot elements from the original film, which is again a sign of total lack of interest and investment in the Omen saga on the part of the filmmakers.

Avoid this worthless trash.

By the end, I was actually hoping it would pull a M Night Shyamalan, because even a corny twist would have been better than what we got.

I have no idea why this film exists. It is not heavy on action and horror, and for the better part it hints that it might want to tell a family drama or address the protagonist's childhood trauma. I thought maybe it would end up being a story of redemption, or perhaps a tale about the power of love vanquishing evil. But no, it doesn't do any of these things. Instead, it clumsily moves on from one scene to the next, boring and frustrating the audience. No motif is developed in this film, every plot twist is telegraphed way ahead, the action is pretty bad, and the monster is pretty lame. The ending offers no payoff, nothing is explained, and one is left wondering what the purpose of the prologue was supposed to be. It tries to set up the idea that the boy is careless, and it might cost him dearly. But then they drop it, and nothing in the film connects with anything in the prologue. The protagonist even seems to have forgotten he'd even encountered the monster as a kid. The script completely ignores this experience. Things are hinted at, and never addressed again. There is no narrative purpose for his daughter, and no reason for her to be in the film. The film hints at a special bond between her and her father, but again, it is not developed into anything. This is a poorly written script that annoys people every step of the way. You'll probably want to leave the theater after about 30-40 minutes.

What a boring, incompetent, lifeless pile of crap! Every single aspect of this production is abysmal.

The screenplay is incoherent, episodic, frustrating drivel written by a dull, incompetent person with zero talent for storytelling. Furthermore, virtually all the iconic moments from this story are either absent or barely referenced. Scenes end abruptly just when something exciting is about to happen. Insufferable dream sequences abound. The dialogue is abysmal and minimalistic. Characters are cardboard cutouts. Everything, and I mean every single set is gloomy and feels fake. Characters are unlikable. There's no humanity in any of them. The female protagonist looks like a witch and comes across as the opposite of what she's supposed to be. These people lead gloomy and miserable lives even without the vampire who, ironically, seems more passionate about life than any of the protagonists. Even the professor who plays what is essentially Van Helsing is decrepit and bored. None of the inexplicable changes to the story improve on it. They only frustrate the audience. The vampire looks goofy with a bizarre mustache they gave him and I couldn't understand what he was saying most of the time. Then again, everyone in this film mumbles and whispers. That's what passes for acting these days. Finally, the cinematography is dull and oppressive. Lots of static shots, and lots of annoying framing of characters in the very centre of the frame, as they almost break the fourth wall. CGI is used extensively and everything looks fake, in addition to being lifeless. This is an incredibly boring film, with almost no action, not a single proper scare, no love, no humanity, no art, and no payoff of any kind.
