There's no other way to describe this movie, than infantile and pathetic. Simply having lots of effects coupled with a never ending dramatic soundtrack, doesn't create a good story or help to create realistic characters.
The main protagonist is a mix of every cliche from every disaster movie ever made and his character alone, reduces the credibility of the movie by 90%. It seems like they couldn't decide whether to make a movie for children or adults, so they decided to make a movie for childish adults and in that respect, they hit the mark.
The whole thing feels like the disaster movie equivalent of Fast & Furious 9 which is sadly not a compliment.
If you can disengage your brain for 2 hours, or have an IQ below 40, then you might make it through the movie, but it isn't an experience that will leave wanting more.

This is typical Apple output, billed as Sci-Fi but isn't. Just like nearly all of Apple's productions, it's extremely slow, very dull and is ultimately a huge disappointment.
It consists primarily of poor science, long drawn out dialogue about nothing, people kissing and not much else. I couldn't care less about the characters and the story and execution are so dull, that I began browsing eBay on my iPad. There are plot holes big enough to steer an oil tanker through and some of the science is laughable.
In addition, despite being spectacularly boring, it's also very difficult to follow and from my perspective, it isn't worth the effort.
Great Sci-Fi does exist but this definitely isn't it.

The original Ghostbusters was an icon of its time and had all the right ingredients for a movie that's still enjoyable decades later. Will anyone want to watch this abysmal effort in a few decades time? I doubt many would want to watch it again at any time, as it lacks everything that made the original a classic.
The new young cast are simply awful and all of their acting seems to be completely over the top for no good reason. None of their characters are interesting or in any way engaging and they sadly set the tone for the whole movie, which is equally unengaging.
The appearance of some of the original cast is good to see, but they can't rescue the damage done by the new generation. Add in Paul Rudd who seems to play the exact same character, no matter the movie he's in, and you have a rather flat, at times irritating and ultimately disappointing movie, with no pay off in return for the 2 hours you endured it for.
The effects are impressive as one would expect, but when that's the only positive you can find in a movie, it demonstrates just how poor it is.
I think they should put the franchise to bed, rather than continue with this new cast, as I can't see them being able to create anything worthwhile if they continue on this path.
