Just finished watching the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers. While not the best writing overall, the show is very enjoyable thrill ride and an addictive watch. Both seasons are fun, but season 2 takes it up a notch with a totally different vibe and beautifully cinematic. I like the way they made this series an anthology-style series with each season bringing a totally different story while having Masha as the central figure that connects the seasons. The casting on this show is amazing and such a crazy dynamic, I mean Regina Hall, Michael Shannon, Henry Golding, Lena Olin, and the list goes on! Nicole Kidman's Russian accent always makes me laugh, but it suits the dark comedic undertones of this show. I hope Hulu renews the show for a third season!
As a huge fan of The OA and whodunit shows, this show was great. The first part of the premiere were a bit boring but then quickly got interesting and intense and keeps you wanting to watch more to figure it out. There were lots of twists and turns that make you question everyone. The ending was a bit predictable, but still executed nicely. The Iceland cinematography and set designs were beautiful. It also makes the viewers question what this big tech companies are doing with their power and wealth. I do hope we get to see more content from Brit and Zal, and hope that Netflix or another platform allows them to finish Seasons 3-5 of The OA, on top of other new shows like this.
I didn't know what to expect with this show. I'm a huge fan of From on MGM+, so decided to give this show a try since it's from the same network. I was worried it was just going to be a cringe knock-off of Lost, but thankfully it's not. The production quality and sets could be better, the acting from the lead characters are good, but the secondary characters could use some better directing. I agree with the other review that there should be more Spanish in the show given where it takes place, and I agree with the other review that bringing in stereotypical politics randomly like that is unnecessary, but we'll see what they do with all the characters to fully judge that. I do find the pacing of the show (at least the first episode) kinda rushed as well. I love the mystery aspect of the show, it's sort of a whodunnit thriller, with there being 10 people who crashed, but there's only 9 are in the morgue. So, I'm guessing throughout the season we have to try to find out who the 10th actually is? Excited to see where this story goes.
