Compared to "Ciudades Oscuras" (wich came out the same year) the movie is very bad, yes, it's a new story in Mexican Cinema of the New Millenium, still it's a very used issue, the social difference between lovers. But let's forget the plot, and go to the direction, why the hell this guy used so many effects !!, I mean, it's good to stablish a point of view with experimental shots, but this guy totally obsesed with visual effects, i know we should blame photography director, but HEY! the director is the one with the vision ! 2 out of 5. The actress is the only good thing in the movie. =))
Even though the movie was made for pure cultural matters, is great!
I really loved Barbora Bobulova as María the chess geek, great photography, and great performance by the Chess teacher.
I recommend it, best of Italian films of the new century.

When the Play was presented here in Culiacán it was an extraordinary event, many people were looking forward to seen it.
As One of Óscar Liera masterpieces, El Jinéte de la Divína Providencia, was expected to be a great film, instead of that, it´s presented as a mediocre one. Part of the film was made in Culiacán and the other part was made in Cósala, because the film and the play present two different times, one in 1890 and the other one in the 80's, the transitions between times is confused, the acting is average (logically were used only theater actors), the play tried to expose Jesús Malverde as an Hero for the poor, in the movie that objective it´s lost.
I would recommend to read the play first, and then see the movie, Liera has much to offer us in his work.
