The movie really is impressively bad. The story is stupid. The director is totally incapable. And on top of all that, the lead actor has as much charisma and talent as a dead amoeba. Interestingly however, you hardly notice all that with every single actor being at least as bad as and talentless as he is. In fact, a colorful test image is easily more entertaining than this useless and brainless piece of stupid crap. Honestly, the director should have pursued a career at Walmart instead... Some so called directors just don't have what a takes! Please stop making movies!
For 40 years Troma has has shown that independent movies can be a lot of fun. The big difference is, that Troma knows EXACTLY what they are doing. The director of "Phantom Soldiers" obviously doesn't.

I just watched Patch Adams and then read the comments... Sure, Patch Adams is unrealistic in some ways, but it is a movie and a typical Robin Williams movie ...too !
Who wants to really see the character to go through community college and college before he eventually gets to University, before the story of the movie actually starts ? Nobody ! Anyone who goes to the movies to see pure reality should rather stay at home and watch CNN or a documentary and save the money ! Please, dont mix up movies and reality ! And saying that Robin Williams should have made a documentary instead, well, i am pretty sure if you get the money you will get Robin W. to do this documentary too. Dont forget, Robin Williams is an actor ! Acting is his job and Patch Adams is just a role, really ! You cant blame him for the script !
Ok,to the "important time before the character gets to university": The movie is already 115 minutes long and focuses on whats really important to the story, the characters time at the university and how he stands up for his opinion and his theories ! So, why waste another 10-15 Minutes on boring useless scenes, nobody wants to see ?
And why do people have problems with Patch beeing older ? You can go to University beeing e.g. 36 and become a great doctor anyway ! Age isnt that important, especially for someone like Patch Adams, both the character and the real person. Those individuals want to become doctors to help people and not to drive a Jaguar or Porsche. And if they have enough time left in their life to help a single person, then their mission is complete !
However, the main purpose of almost all movies is to entertain, and THIS movie does this job pretty well.

I dont get it why people compare this movie with Clueless... The story is so different... it has nothing to do with Clueless based on Emma by Jane Austin and totally different from the story of Legally Blonde.
