Open Water is scary... really scary. And it has no computer generated special effects. Lau and Kentis with virtually no crew take digital filming to the next level. This movie is an amazing feat of film making.
The relationship between the lead actors feels very real -- the dialog and performances really make you believe. Their reliance on each other and the horror of the situation really come across.
As a diver, the movie is also very realistic. I can see how an accident like this could happen and also that no matter how much diving you have done, your options in their situation are not that great.
Overall, it was scary and haunting, keeping me on the edge of my seat and sticking with me for days (and nights!) after.

This is an excellent indie film -- especially for first time director Kentis who clearly shows he knows his way around a camera and editting room. The quality or actors is very high and their performances are excellent. While the subject matter may not be for everyone, the story is realistic and well-portrayed. Worth seeing!
