Saw this last night and it is a very thoughtful movie to say the least.. about a very difficult topic.
No women should ever have to through what these women do. I really do hope that I would have the courage to stop it if I saw it happening. If it was a girl I knew, I would.
However, there are also women who are calculating and mean. Who for some reason wants to ruin certain guys life and reputation. And to be wrongfully accused is also absolutely terrible, almost like a death sentence..
So.. it's a really difficult one. What I want is the truth and justice in these situations whatever that is.
About the movie.. Carey Mulligan is exceptional. The message is very strong and brilliantly delivered. The ending is epic.
Highly recommended.

Well.. Watched this for the first time in January 2025 It's still quite obvious why IAWL is the only movie made before 1950
in the top 25 of IMDB as of today..
This was James Stewart's favorite role of his career and it's also easy to see why. He is excellent and completely believable. Makes the movie work the way you would want.
That said, the cast is great overall. Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell.. Henry Travers as Clarence.. etc. A movie like this is great because of the performances of the actors and that is really part of why it is so great.
About the story.. some of you who has given it a bit lower rating is because George Bailey is too much of a whining character.. and to a degree I actually agree which made the first half of the film or even a little bit more not THAT enjoyable. I know it's part of the story but still.. I think they could have made the character a little bit more sympathetic and it could still have worked.
Anyway.. the last half an hour or so is movie history. The last 10-15 minutes I cried. It's a very powerful message delivered in a beautiful way and that part I will probably rewatch countless times from now on.
The first part could to me actually been a little bit better so in the end 9/10 but still of course highly recommended to anyone. A classic worthy of its reputation.
