I watched the UK version of this first and really enjoyed it, so figured I'd expand my viewing to at least the other English-speaking versions.
Well, a bit of a mistake as I didn't find it very funny. One major issue as pointed out by another reviewer is that this show is called Last One LAUGHING, not last one smiling.
That is such an epic fail on the part of the producers. It takes a lot more to make someone laugh than smile. The UK version pushed the participants to the breaking point and near mental breakdown before they were eliminated, which made for great viewing. Here, the Irish are knocked out for the smallest smile which is an idiotic choice and just not funny.

Of course we've seen better comedy from these folks on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and WILTY, but in this case they have to be careful to not make themselves laugh. So it's 100% true as some say that it's not as funny as it could be and it's unavoidable due to the format, but it's a minor point.
HOWEVER, you basically have to be off in the head to not think this is funny at all, and I feel sorry for the people giving this low scores. You probably have a brain condition that needs to be corrected by surgery. Or you're just angry that the person you liked didn't win.
I particularly loved the faces some of the ladies made. We see the physical embodiment of a laugh trying every possible avenue of escape until it ultimately breaks free!
I am really looking forward to another series and I hope they bring back some of these GOATs and then add fresh meat to see what happens. Or how about an AI Sean Lock randomly throwing out "that's a challenging wank" or "I went seal clubbing" just to push the weak over the edge!

Absolutely the number one issue with this film is the terrible idea of using a form of flashbacks to tell the story. Literally at one point we have the identical dialogue given to us via a crackling radio and then again at the other end with the actor holding the radio. It makes the film especially plodding and boring, as well as hard to follow because we don't even have the luxury of a proper & consistent screen transition. Insanity!
I disagree with some of the reviewers and think that most of the acting was atrocious and particularly wooden, leading two our number two issue. LOOK, you have two choices: hire weak actors and beat them up until they get the scene right or hire seasoned professionals and let them do a good job on their own. In this case, we have weak actors and apparently zero input from the director. The only acting that was reasonable was from the extras!
The third major issue I want to point out is the ridiculous frequency in which people point guns at each other and one side forces the other side to drop theirs. This is unbelievably silly.
Overall, this was mostly a snooze-fest, but if you fast-forward a bit here and there it's better.
