I was born in the 80's, out of high school before everyone had a smartphone. With that said, I enjoyed this. Most high school shows I watch have SUPER unbelievable plots and not really relatable. There were many episodes that I could see my younger self as Ginny or knew someone who was her or a friend of hers. I never had group chats, but my high school was definitely clique-y. The show has that small-town charm feel where everyone knows everyone, and knows their business, during the day, people pop over to say hi. There's a few points that are a bit of a stretch, but it's a show, take it with a grain of salt.
I've seen others in the reviews saying the teenagers had attitude, were bratty, etc. Yeah, they were. It's called kids being kids. I'm sure these people were like that. Unlike other shows, they're not solving the town's crimes or driving between cities during the night on a school night. The show is mostly set either in someone's home or in the school, and kids are actually wearing backpacks. You get to see teachers teaching, kids facing real-world problems (underage drinking, self-harm, talk of suicide, racial oppression, relationship problems with both their friends and their family).
There's just enough to keep you wondering what's behind the next door and wanting more. It took me three days to watch 10 episodes because I just HAD to know.
I'm reminded a small bit of the Degrassi series (which is interesting, considering one of the actors is a former).
It wasn't perfect, which is why I didn't give it a 10, but it's pretty good, at least to me. I hope there's a Season 2.

My family had this DVD for years and I'd never thought to take a look at it until my English teacher mentioned it a few weeks back. I'd heard the famous 'Go-oo-od Morning Vietnam!!' line numerous times and so I went home, put it in the DVD player and set myself up for 2 hours of what I thought would be 'meh' humour, in my way meaning, there would be some funny moments but I would just smile at them. Boy was I wrong! This is some awesome Robin Williams material. Many times I actually found myself laughing out loud. My English teacher said we'd be watching this in class one day and now I can't wait to see how the rest of my class reacts to it! I'm sure we'll all be in hysterics. Gotta love Robin!
