Review: "Kraven"
As a fan of superhero and villain films, I approached Kraven with optimism despite the lukewarm reviews. Unfortunately, even with my enthusiasm for the genre, this film proved to be a disappointment.
The casting is one of the few highlights-there's real potential in the performances, and some of the action sequences are well-executed and visually striking. However, these moments are overshadowed by a weak script that fails to build an engaging narrative or meaningful character development.
The script was left lacking and alongside poor story execution ended up leaving me feeling bored, which is the one thing a film within this genre shouldn't do. What could have been a gripping exploration of one of Spider-Man's most iconic villains instead feels hollow and unremarkable.
While it's tempting to give superhero films the benefit of the doubt, this one simply doesn't earn it. Kraven is a slog, and for all but the most die-hard fans of the genre, it's best left unseen.
Rating: 3/10.

Review: "Bad Tidings"
As a fan of both Lee Mack and Chris McCausland, I went into Bad Tidings with high expectations, hoping for a Christmas comedy in the vein of Click and Collect. Unfortunately, it fell well short of the mark, failing to capture the wit, charm, or festive magic I was looking for.
The film starts with some promise. The initial interactions between the two leads hint at the novelty and chemistry that could have carried the story. However, this early spark fizzles out quickly, and the plot descends into tedium. What could have been a sharp, funny, and heartwarming holiday tale becomes a poorly executed mess that feels like it's stumbling through the motions without much direction.
The script is a major issue here-thin, uninspired, and lacking in originality. There are few memorable jokes or moments, and the pacing drags to the point of frustration. Even the considerable talents of Mack and McCausland couldn't save this one.
Ultimately, Bad Tidings fails to deliver anything more than disappointment. With its weak execution and lackluster writing, it squanders a good premise and two great comedians. A festive miss.

Despite a stellar cast and groundbreaking CGI, the film trades emotional depth and a compelling narrative for a chaotic, over-the-top spectacle. It's hard not to compare this sequel to the iconic 2000 film, and unfortunately, it's an unnecessary addition that fails to justify its existence.
The storyline feels fragmented and overly ambitious, with bizarre creative choices like CGI sharks that come across as absurd rather than thrilling. What was meant to be an exhilarating experience often feels over the top in one moment and boring in the next, leaving viewers struggling to invest in the narrative. Gladiator 2 lacks the emotional weight that defined the original and is really underwhelming.
Visually, the movie goes all out with its CGI, offering stunning sequences featuring rhinos, apes, and more in a digitally enhanced Colosseum, which regardless of how thrilling or silly this seems - the effects are delivered as you'd expect. However, these grand visuals fail to compensate for the loss of the human connection and intensity that made Gladiator a masterpiece. Bigger and louder, yes-but not better.
Ultimately, Gladiator II doesn't tarnish the legacy of the original, but it's a sequel that didn't need to exist. It's a hollow spectacle that leaves audiences wondering why it was ever made.
Rating: 4/10 - A visually impressive misstep that sinks under the weight of its own ambitions.
