It's Wickniverse, you're gonna watch it regardless. Just grab a popcorn and suspend your disbelief and enjoy another round of John Wick
If we start with plotholes, inconsistency and logical mindboggleness we'd ended up ruining all the fun.
That's all
But if you need to know I think it's meh. Could have been done better. I get it it's Wickniverse, but not a scratch, not a bruise on Eve, she's what? 5 feet something skinny balerina body? No way she could handle a full blown kick and hits and barely broke a bone. Even her makeup... Not even a single dirt on her pretty face. Not to mention she's mowing everyone down as if she's Jane Wick... I get it she's highly trained by she make those goons looks like cardboard target in some training yard. By the 3rd quarter I'm getting bored. I just think the action is too much and entering Fast Furious level of absurdity, even for Wickniverse.
But then again... We'll be watching it. It's just a solid 7 leave your brain out and enjoy Ana.. i mean... Eve... I mean... Whatever.

This is a full scale 1 to 1 remake of the original Swordsman 1 (5%) and 99% of the original Swordsmans 2 classic by Jet Li and Brigitte Lin
For those of you who hasnt read the novels and endure the full 50 plus episodes TV series, you'll be scratching your head as it's full of lore and characters from the classic Wuxia Novel Xiao Ao Jiang Hu (Smiling Proud Wanderer)
For westerner audience, imagine GOT 8 season all condensed into a 2 hour movie jumping right at the middle of the action. You'll get the gist of what I'm saying
It wasnt bad per-se, the main Female lead got an uncanny resemblance to Brigitte Lin in looks and mannerism. It's like a 2025 actress looking exactly like Katherine Hepburn. Something like that
The Male lead is laughable. No charisma, no acting range and he's a pale shadow of his predecessor Sam Hui and off course Jet Li. The rest of the cast is cardboard character which dont hold a candle to the original
Seen it in Cantonese and it was still a very sweet throwback and nostalgia to my favorite Wuxia movie. The fights are off course much better thanks to CGI but boy the Tsui Hark original doesnt age too bad in retrospect
Watch this if you like Xiao Ao Jiang Hu, or just watch it for a Wuxia fantasy fu, but it's a well worth 2 hour if you like these types of movie.
