Why? Why? There must be "slim pickings" for Viola these days. This movie was tone deaf, an embarrassment for storytelling and cinematography. This movie showed incredible disrespect to its audience. Don't actors know that they are as good as their last performance?

Is there anyone with fresh ideas in the movie making biz? Those of us who appreciate good content will have to revisit some quality movies or TV series.

Well, we all know that money talks and it just might have been screaming at Viola Davis for her to take on this project. Even though Ms. Davis has beautiful skin and looks good for her age, some things should be done when you are much younger.

This movie did not live up to the hype. Jonathan Majors is very talented. That is the reason I was looking forward to watching this movie. Boy, was I disappointed! Okay, the movie had a decent concept but the development was not there. It should have portrayed a better back story and had a much better storyline overall. The scenes were weak and pretty predictable. There was nothing really shocking about this movie, no real twists and turns. It was formulaic.

The best part of this movie was looking at Jonathan Majors incredible body constitution. He was not convincing as a mentally challenged individual. I guess he gave it his best shot.

This movie had me riveted to the screen from beginning to end. I rented this movie at Amazon Prime. I wanted to see it back in 2016 but the negative publicity about Nate Parker prevented a lot of us from viewing the movie. It was unfortunate, but I found out he was innocent of all charges.

I knew the Nat Turner story. It was part of my Black History education. I wanted to see how Nate Parker treated this hero of mine. It was outstanding. I do know that all film makers will take creative license when it comes to true stories, like the fact that Nat Turner was captured in real life as opposed to walking in an encampment turning himself in so to speak. However, it does not take away the fact that he was punished by slave owners for his crime. We do know in history that there were several slave revolts during the 400+ years of slavery in the United States. Nat Turner's led revolt really stood out since he was literate and a well known preacher in his slave community. About 22 years later the Abolitionist Movement finally was successful in getting Lincoln to free the slaves.

Nate Parker did a superb job of writing the script, directing, and acting as Nat Turner in this movie. The supporting actors were great.. The cinamatography was wonderful. This movie was hard to watch and very emotional for me.

Thank you Nate Parker for your interpretation of the Nat Turner story. I will purchase a copy of this movie in the near future.
