I love airplane and airport movies. I loved Die Hard 2. However, I started to watch this one convinced I would be disappointed. Well, truth be told, I wasn't. It is thrilling. It is entertaining. It catches your attention. I can even say that it is good. Yes, there are some silly screenplay choices and a few scenes that do not make much sense. But if you try to watch it just for the entertainment, you'll be good. Unfortunately, Bateman is not at his best. But Taron Egerton actually does a good and convincing job. (The actress who plays the girlfriend not quite). I had a pleasant couple of hours.
The plot sounded promising. Sherlock Holmes investigating the crimes committed by Jack the Ripper. I don't want to give out any spoilers, so all I can say is this. Too many names. Too many characters who added nothing to the story. An investigation based on nothing coming to conclusions out of the hat. No facts. No real discovering. Just guesses. A wild hunch. No logical deduction. No putting the facts together. To make it worse, Christopher Plummer still looks like and sounds like Captain Von Trapp (from the Sound of Music). 2 hours of my life who I will not have back. Pity. Like I said, a promising plot, wasted.
