When funny turns into anything but funny. Quietly wondering whether reviewing any movie on IMDB still makes sense, as clearly anyone rating this piece of cinematographic dung as "the best movie I have ever seen" is either being paid to write such as statement, a member of the film crew, or an utter and complete imbecile. Oh wait, it could be all three of those of course. So, what's bad about this movie? Well, let's start with the simple fact that there's single scene that's even remotely funny. Clearly, these empty heads have seen some of the "scary movies" and were going for the same formula, but the thing is, when your script is written by a soulless piece of intelligence, artificial or otherwise, then none of the jokes are going to work. Personally, I could listen to Monty Python's "F$^k Christmas" all day long and still have a good laugh about it, but this movie didn't even last 15 minutes. So, here's some advice to everyone who was somehow related to this movie: For any deity's sake, go and find another job and stop wasting the lives of people.
What shall I say? Would love to say lots of positive things about this movie, as clearly, it's a product coming from the master himself, but this time it's all a bit 'meh'. There are certainly scenes that are beautiful works of craft and exude a calmness that not many movies are able to, but then there are crappy scenes of animal violence that somehow simple don't belong in this movie. Think when the parakeets came into the picture the movie fully lost its plot and the storyline was hard to find. So no, not one of Ghibli's best, couldn't find a single character I could really bond with.
Mm... one of those movies where the media hype around it proves to be much greater than the quality of the movie itself. It wasn't bad, but it most certainly wasn't that spectacular either. Just another typical Frankenstein movie, of which you can find thirteen in a dozen. The actual book is still so much better. The thing I found most annoying of all, was that terrible music score. Who the heck composed that? There wasn't a single second where I thought the movie went well with the music. Ah well... so be it. The acting wasn't bad, the sets weren't bad, but again, not award worthy either. Anyways, think that's enough for now and hope that people see the movie for what it really is: another Halloween/Monster movie.
