Note de teleologia
I believe that someone who hasn't seen the documentary and wants to check out its rating on IMDB could be deterred by its rating. If we want a better world, people need to watch this documentary and its not a waste of time.
The fact that Mr. Barnett was given too much time doesn't make any difference for me. At the end of the day your two functional brain cells will figure out that he's not the good guy and he does look like a bad actor even though there's still a possibility that, at the same time, he may have been abused by his wife, along with the rest of the family members.
Also, there are enough opinions and characters in the film to help the viewer make their own balance and rightful conclusion. If you pay attention, you won't get fooled by tears and drama and you won't let those influence your judgement.
In this world some people are noisy and dramatic and others are soft spoken and deep. If you pay attention to the bottom line, you will figure who's who and what's what. On the other hand, if some characters are dramatic and look a little phony, maybe this makes the story more entertaining.
Of course, the resolution of this film is absolutely wrong and leaves you with a very bad and bitter taste in your mouth... but then again, this is how the real world works.

I won't leave a bad review just because I needed to watch a documentary about sex-trafficking with a silly happy ending so my sleep won't get disturbed by something that I can't process and manage properly.
Well, I can go beyond all those ridiculous expectations and notice the forgotten taste of noir where bad dudes and gorgeous vamps made the world go round. But this movie goes even deeper than this: every scene is an oportunity to generate amazing visual poetry, to find the right angle and the right amount of light and turn the seemingly dull scenario into magic.
I'm not a fan of Romanian cinema but I begin watching it anyways, while asking myself how are they going to make an actual movie based on such a sinister and bleak reality. But they actually managed to create not only an interesting plot but also a strange and exotic world. I live in Transylvania and this type of setting couldn't be more exotic and unusual for me.
The movie has "that someting", it's charming and captivating. Despite the bad ending, the takeaway is substantial and the style is sophisticated which is a remarkable achievement for a movie about people with no academic background whatsoever.
