I'm so disappointed. I was aware of the reviews going into it, but I was really hoping they'd be wrong.
I think those of us adults who still love Disney love it because of the nostalgia. Remaking a beloved classic doesn't leave a lot of room for error. I think this movie would have been more successful had it been marketed as something different - even renamed - because it's not Snow White. I think, had that been the case, audiences would have been able to enjoy it more.
I was confused by the casting for a lot of reasons, but mostly because I like Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler but disliked them so much in these roles. Something about it just didn't work. Some of the supporting cast's acting was noticeably bad. I also found Snow White's costumes/wig to be pretty distracting - again - something didn't work. The CGI didn't seem well done - it all looked pretty fake - so instead of enhancing the story it detracted from it.
I think my biggest complaint, however, might be the music. I am so tired of this Broadway-esque music in movies - it doesn't work. It's too over the top and instead of enhancing the storytelling it distracts from it. Couple that with the goofy choreography and it becomes an even bigger issue. It also feels like a money grab - let's set this up so we can take it straight to live shows and make a bunch of money that way too!! As most of us know, what works on stage isn't always what works on film, and vice versa. One of the things that made Disney's original Snow White so beloved was the music and this film really did not do it justice.
I don't like leaving reviews that are completely negative so here are a couple positives. Gal Gadot is easily the fairest in any land, and her costumes and make up felt spot on. Rachel Ziegler's voice is beautiful and so is Andrew Burnap's - their duet is gorgeous and I'd listen to them sing just about anything together.
Other than that, though, this is a big bummer for those of us rooting for Disney and the movies we so fondly remember.

My kids were excited to see this because they both read the book when they were little. I wish this movie was getting more attention because it is adorable. It's a great, kind-hearted family movie that stays true to the spirit of the book. (We have also seen Garfield, IF, and Despicable Me 4 this year and Harold is by far my favorite.)
It moves quick enough that, even though the story isn't all that complicated, it keeps you engaged and laughing. I smiled through the whole thing.
Zachary Levi is a PERFECT Harold. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job. He hits the perfect balance between innocent imagination and a love of fun and adventure. He did such a great job.
We all genuinely enjoyed this.

This is one that stays with you. I didn't know much about it before I watched it. We watched it over the course of two nights and after the first night, I thought about it all day until we could finish it.
The story is unbelievably tragic - hard to comprehend that it's actually true. And tragic movies aren't necessarily my thing but this was riveting.
The cast was incredible. Lily Gladstone is a revelation. She fully embodied her character in such a way that, even though she had very little dialogue (comparatively), she was the most interesting character in the entire story. Leonardo DiCaprio is brilliant (as usual), and disappears into this role as Ernest. He is able to make viewers feel sympathy for this character while at the same time reviling him for his unforgivable actions.
The supporting cast had some wonderful surprises with actors at the top of their games - John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, and Jesse Plemons, just to name a few.
The only things I didn't like were (a) the length of the movie and (b) the conclusion. I was sort of jolted out of the trance of the storytelling when it so abruptly switched gears.
