Eddie Burns (Ving Rhames) un ex detective de homicidios, retirado hace más de quince años por una condición física, reaparece con un estilo a lo Pedro Navaja con un sombrero de ala ancha y un look de "macho man", pero las cosas no son como antes.
¿Qué hace un actor como Ving Rhames, ganador de un "Golden Globe" como mejor actor en la miniserie de televisión "Don King: Only in America" (1997), o un Gary Oldman ganador de un "BAFTA" por el film "Nil by Mouth" (1997), o una Kerry Washington, o un Brian Cox en una película de bajo presupuesto, directa para el videoclub? Kassie (Kerry Washington), desaparece sin dejar rastro, pero su hermano Eddie recibe un video en que se muestra secuestrada, drogada y violada por un antiguo enemigo de este.
Charlie Strom (Gary Oldman) es un siniestro delincuente dedicado a la venta de drogas y pornografía, este tiene a Kassie y tiene toda la intención de torturarla y castigarla en venganza por lo que Eddie le hizo hace quince años atrás.
El film es una historia de venganzas, pero como toda película de serie B, carece de valores cinematográficos, sobre todo un buen guión y una aceptable dirección. ¿Por qué Gary Oldman por el mismo precio no dirigió, teniendo mejor experiencia? La película tuvo un presupuesto $6,5 millones.

A masterpiece of international cinema that tranceeds all unnatural boundaries as it deals with human emotions which know no boundaries. Maria Galana who plays an old woman in the sixties from a village in South Spain. Her four sons have moved away as soon as they could to the north.
Her husband is admitted to one hospital in the city where she finds herself a bit out of place. Her daughter lives in the same city whom her husband hates as she has gone beyond the cultural limitations and has studied. The daughter played by Ana Fernandez is a character who wants to be rich and hates the way her mother has lived her life like one obidient wife.
The movie comes to its real essence when Ana becomes preganant and her boyfriend refuses to take up the responsibility and asks her to abortion. Parallely her monther meets Ana's neighbour-a man in his sixties as well who is as "solas" as Maria even after being married and Ana even after doin what she wanted. Ana's struggle with her identity and her crave to have the child with the fight for her self respect is very well carried by the script.
How the things turn up and how Ana realises the importance of her mother and her life, how her mother manages herself intelligebily between all those who hardly want to see each other, the old man wants to be with lady and the story itself which is itself a pillar in the movie are to be watched out for.
I say its a best movie when one cannot jus leave his/her seat, its when you feel every bit of the characters are going through, its when every node of the music makes your herat beats.... You can expect everything from it that you expect our of a classic!!

Before he strode confidently into Hitchcock territory, filmmaker Brian De Palma began his career in the late 1960s and early 1970s with a series of anti-authority satires. Hi, Mom! (1970) wasn't quite as controversial as its X-rated predecessor, Greetings (1968), but it still has a bite, even today.
Robert DeNiro stars as Jon Rubin, a Vietnam vet looking to find his place in America. He gets the idea of making porno films with a voyeuristic quality, filming the residents of a neighboring apartment building from his window. To get quicker results, he even seduces one woman and tries to perform for the camera, set on a timer. He also auditions for a role in a play entitled "Be Black Baby," in which the white spectators are humiliated by black performers.
The film goes off on many tangents, using black-and-white footage to capture seemingly spontaneous reactions of passersby, but it never loses its obsession with voyeurism and the power of the camera. In many ways, this rambunctious mess gets closer to De Palma's dark heart than many of his later, more artistically successful works. Charles Durning appears in an early role as a slum landlord.
