Note de DownTime4Mummy
I was so very pleasantly surprised by this movie. It's July. It popped up on the screen when I turned on my tv, so I thought I'd give it a go. Yes it's far fetched. But I really enjoyed the concept. Little bit of mystery built into it. Felt original. The main cast (Lucy & Jack) had good characterisation and a genuine connection. It was heartfelt. Predictable at points, but still so enjoyable. Highly recommended.
The way this movie ended up was a really nice surprise. Feeling very emotional about it, but that, I guess, is the magic in the story and how they portrayed it.
It did at times feel a bit slow, but it just seemed the right pace for what was occurring. I agree with other reviews about no real attention being paid to small details like the museum being open at night, the rings not being checked with her hovering around, how'd the ring get in the book if she was holding it at the museum, access to exclusive parties, etc.
But I made the choice to get lost in the storyline and the Great Gatsby connection that they drew in parallel. Very emotive weaving in and out of all the different lives/journeys that carried similar feeling.
Again...very pleasantly surprised (and I try to avoid movies that turn me into a watering pot). Nothing great; but I'm glad I watched it.
