  • It's like people off a street were hired to act.

The story arc from the first episode to the last is surprisingly basic. The people (they are not actors) don't actually act - they are imitating how they think actors act and resultingly, it's some of the unintentionally funniest bad over-acting in years.

It really has to be seen to be believed. It is so openly amateur that I would be surprised if many people sit through the short run times. I have to say though - big props to anyone who convinced a production house to make this - they deserve a medal for convincing someone to invest money on a show with simple writing and people who probably have never acted and who are just trying it out for the first time in this show.

  • Has potential but unsure about animal cruelty as comedy

The premise is about "hunting really big snakes". In Florida, pythons are an invasive species due to people letting pets go years ago, and these snakes reproducing and threatening the ecosystem. It's a real problem.

The show is about hunting and killing them. There is a real dead iguana (killed for the joke?) in the first episode. The dead python appears to be a prop though.. but still, I wonder how well this show will go over with reptile fans or owners of these animals as pets. Craig Robinson has always had good comedy delivery, but is it funny to smash a snake's skull in with a weapon and a lot of blood? Whether they end up killing more animals or just use props?

(note there is no "No animals were harmed" statements seen in the credits)

    You be the judge.

  • Demonstrates how Netflix knows nothing about anything.

I started watching this series and I have to say I am gobsmacked at how poorly it's written both in plot, premise, story and characters.

I shouldn't be surprised, as most of the shows they waste millions on are so poorly thought out, a high school drama class could put out the same drivel.

That's right - Netflix thinks that when the future of humanity is at stake, you send a crew of early 20 somethings who barely know any science, are full of both personal and interpersonal drama, can't act like a team and are completely devoid of any common sense or skills whatsoever.

As a matter of fact, they can't even act like young adults on a mission - it's like Earth decided to take a bunch of random grade-9's and put them on a billion dollar spaceship to save humanity.

Which - is a bit of a description of what Netflix would do if they had to save the planet. In other words - they've got no idea whatsoever.

Katee Sackhoff holds the story together as best she can given the writing and the cast of kid goofballs. Elizabeth Faith Ludlow deserves a lot of credit too. She comes across as the only other serious character on the show, although her character is undermined by the writers as well.
