I saw this film first time back there in mid-80s, being around 10-years old, and it was wonderful. I've seen it several times since there, and impression never changed, regardless of age. I'm very fond of Barandov Studios' fairy tales, but this film is the best of them. Safrankova, Travnicek, Bartoska -- what would better for the film?
The only pity that like many other wonderful films it isn't translated to English (Am I wrong?) -- so in people not knowing Chech/Russian/German don't able to enjoy it. Well -- their loss!

One more wonderful "Barrandov Movie". Back in USSR we used to watch anything, that came from "Barrandov Studios", especially children movies. This one matches the great standards they had in Czechoslovaky at 60-70-80s. Maybe too many "blank spaces", where they just show the sky or sea, but generally, beautiful scenery, nice costumes and the very best actors of the genre make this move one of the best filming of Andersen's "Little Mermaid".
I am agree with everything said on this page about "Tri orishki pro Popelku" ("Tri oreshka dlja Zolushki" as I know it in Russian). I saw this movie first time when I was 5 and now I've just taped it -- to see when I need some mood. Everything here is unbelievably good -- actors, landscapes, screenplay, music (Karel Gott sings the final song). It's only sad, that because of American snobbery this film would never receive more than 50 votes -- it's maid out of USA. Still it's 100 times better than virtually anything filmed at USA.
