watched this movie on tape last night. borrowed it from the local library (a great source for old movies) i really enjoy this one. the dialog was crisp and nothing was wasted. these characters said exactly what was on their minds. the plots kept moving. Ann Sheridan is a joy to watch. hard to believe what a wonderful actor Ronald Reagan was. where is the rest of me indeed...it's funny how the wrong side of the tracks was a real thing in the old days. and how the talk of a town actually changed how people acted and behaved. i loved when drake marched into Ann Sheridan's house and declared his intentions. and of course it was the right thing to do..to stand up for yourself. the story line about Paris's grandmother was a bit stale..but they didn't drag it out too long.

this is one funny movie...the only time it really slows down is when will and ben are shot down and are discovered alive at the air base. but when will is trying to become classified, there is one good gag after another...like when ben is trying to make sure the major is spelling his name correctly...or when irving and the sarge are trying to get will drunk at the bar and when will is leaving the mp's come rushing in and will says, "there's a couple thirsty fellas". or like the other poster said about getting the latrine clean enough to cut out the general's heart. or when ben thinks he's about to be shot for leaving his post by jumping from a disable airplane. the fun thing is..even though will isn't very bright...he does have a wisdom about him...understanding situations that others miss...one very good movie...

I happened across The Front Page accidently while watching the baseball playoffs. The fact that the movie was able to hold my interest is tribute enough. Jack Lemmon is ready to quit the reporter business in prohibition Chicago... Walter Mattheu is Lemmons' editor and tries anything to keep his best newsman around. Lemmon is hot to leave for Philly with a woman he plans to marry but before Lemmon can get out of Chicago a story is thrown into his lap. The newsman in him takes over and the results of good action and story kept me around. Funny finish.
