I love this show and I own the whole series both online and with DVDs. I also feel that it's excellence has been underrated; I believe this may be because the captain is a woman and this kind of show has always been the province of young men.

However, my review today is mainly about Kate Mulgrew. I just rewatched Prime Factors (1/10) and was blown away by her acting. I'm this episode she portrays womanliness, hope, disappointment, anger and authority! Her ability to be both gentle and hard make her the perfect actor for playing the Captain.

Also, as an aside, this series had the best final two-part episode I've ever seen. In the past, I've been extremely disappointed in these. For example, those from The Next Generation and Quantum Leap which were two of my favorite series had crappy wrap-ups.

I've seen the first 50 minutes and all this is is a hackneyed government conspiracy plot. The last 35 minutes might be better, but I can no longer watch this unoriginal, tired film. I'm truly disappointed as I usually will enjoy any okay SciFi movie, but this is unbearable.

The acting is actually excellent, but this fact can't make up for the all the other awful parts. There hasn't even been any SciFi effects. Occasionally we see a solar flare, but that's it!

The most exciting part was in the first ten minutes which followed Peter Fonda's character as he took all his wealth out of the bank and avoided a tail by the government spooks.

I've given this a 7, but grudgingly. I do like Bertie Carver, but I hate what the writers have done to P. D. Jame's creation. They've made this a story about racism and although a topical subject, it's not what the author wrote about.

I much prefer the 1980's miniseries with Roy Marsden. This was a detailed look at relationships, not a contrived misuse of an author's work.

I wonder what Ms. James would have made of it and I then wonder if this would have been made if she were still alive. It seems that an author's death gives license to those writers who use her creations to push their own agendas. In my opinion, this is totally unethical.
